Current thoughts on leveling

We used wood blocks for many years. When we bought our AS, the dealer 'threw in' a set of the anderson 'comma style' levelers with the sale. We thought it was kind-of gimmicky until we tried them. Now we love them, very precise control & super easy to use. Read the comments about them breaking but we've had no issues on a 30' trailer in ~2.5 years of use. They're certainly more reliable than the hydraulic auto-level systems in many SOB trailers.

I have a couple of carry bags of the lego style blocks (Lynx Levelers) so I have enough for any eventuality. They have worked well and offer good flexibility as you can build them both tall and wide if necessary. With the cap pieces they are also useful for placing under the jack and stabilizers so the pads don't have to rest in the dirt or occasional muck.

The Anderson style levelers look clever and I've been tempted to get a pair. But I've hesitated because of the breakage complaints which seem a little too common.

I had a lego set, but the pieces cracked almost right away.

I have the comma thing, and it works great. Used it once, and keep it as a backup. Was a bit too fiddly for me.

Then made some wood blocks (painted a handsome green).

The wood blocks are so simple to use. Ours is a Bambi, which means don't need a lot, with just one tire to work on, so weight is not a concern.

If I get my hands on some cedar, I may make a lighter set.

Plus the board works well if it rains.

The '63 Frantic Banana reefer was very sensitive to level, Cloudsplitter not so much.
It's a question of SWMBO being 'level'. She's not happy, 'til I'm not happy.

Stock OEM Alcoa 15"...no clear coat. Just polish when needed.

The app that's part of the LevelMate Pro solution. You need the LevelMate unit installed and configured for your RV, and then the app communicates to it via Bluetooth. It doesn't matter whether you use wood, blocks or a ramp. It just tells you how much you need to raise a side, and raise/lower the front to get level.

I use one or two composite deck boards, as needed. Most of our sites are fairly level, so usually only need one. The composite boards are easy to clean and don’t rot or warp.

Anderson type levelers and nothing else. There is no simpler, precise way to level.

The square plastic levelers have worked fine with our 22 foot Sport Bambi; after 20,000 miles a few looked like they needed replacing and so I did. I wrapped our "spare" entry step fabric cover around four of the old ones (2 side-by-side stacks of 2) which makes a nice foot rest for sitting on the "geriatric height" toilet!

What's up with the hinge? I'm having a hard time visualizing this.

The beauty or the Levelmate Pro is sometimes it is possible to stay a little left or right further forward or back and stop at a point when level or close to level. The only CON I have found it sometimes the app is flaky. i've have to remove and reinstall to get it talking again. I think on the newer models this has been addressed

I use the legos and like them. Recently I added the Level Mat Pro so I could find the best spot to stop, and how many blocks I'd need.
The legos come in a bag of 10, it takes six blocks to make two pyramids two blocks high. If you need to go three high, you need a second set. (so four squares never got used!)
Somewhere I have a few lengths of wood I'd use instead.

The true test of "level" is if the bathroom door stays where I leave it and the microwave drawer isn't always trying to close.

I'm thinking the comma style is great IF you have a spotter. It's critical where you stop. As a solo driver, putting the truck in park allows it to roll a bit, negating the advantage of the comma.

Red Andersons are great with the level mate pro. I've been using them for 3 years and never had them break. I get the trailer level, put truck in park and engage parking brake to eliminate moving the trailer off level.

I have both the legos and just purchased a set of Anderson (red, commas). I like the Anderson system (a lot). I travel alone and simply back on to them watching the level bubble mounted on the propane cover (close enough for me). I also tested (in my driveway) cascading 2 commas together to lift the tire high enough to change a flat on the same side. It worked like a champ. No more jacking...unless you have 2 flats at one time on the same side.

I know this doesn't answer your question completely, but I hope it might be useful to someone. We have used a couple different types of the blocks and this time around we purchased the commas, the heavy black ones (I can't remember the brand name at the moment, not Anderson). They slipped out from under the tires the first use, but I stuck some of the sticky stair tread on the bottom, the very gritty material, and it works very well. The commas are a breeze! I was able to level the AS without my husband in one try. I would not have been able to do that with the blocks!

Carrying wood (weight)? Adding removing lego blocks. Back and forth...is it level yet? add another one...too high....take it out...too low...pull forward...pull back.

Comma style...slowly pull on to it..check with partner when level or stop the pulling and get out and look for yourself. Another inch should do it. Done

And why would you need 3? Only leveling on one side...and only have 2 axles (unless you have 3...then get 3)
