Electric power jack problem

Well another 2019 International Serenity problem. The power jack barely works, starts to click with no upward movement. My guess stripped gears. Pulled out thee hand crank and it fell apart. Anyone have experience fixing the power jack/ is so can you share what i need to do?

Electric power jack problem

Get it replaced under warranty. They are all built as fast and cheap as possible and occasionally you get a lemon.

If my OEM jack from 2007 ever quits, I’ll replace it with a better one myself. Sorry to hear you’re having problems with yours.

Look at it this way...you now have the opportunity to do your first 'upgrade'.

Husky 82022

I poo-poo'd the remote control but it's been a really nice feature.
Plus, no gears to ware out.
Easy install.

I also installed the Husky..without the remote. The remote model uses power when not in use so it can respond to the remote. I did not want any parasitic load.
Are you certain that your gears are bad? I am not sure what fell apart in your post. Most often the failure is a bad ground. Airstream installs these so that the jack base contacts the trailer frame as the ground. Unfortunately, their method allows, corrosion and a bad connection. If you support the tongue, unbolt, clean it up, use some dielectric grease around the sides, you may find you have a good connection.

Might just be the momentum switch . Open up the plastic housing, one of the wire connectors might have come loose.

i have a 2020 AS FC 25FB- Mine tongue jack stopped my first day out of my first trip! i replaced on the road with a more robust jack- I believe that I paid $270 for it. Works really well. Sorry to hear that you are having issues. i remember how frustrating it is as it happened to me 2 months ago.

Since your under warranty I'd have the dealer address it. Once it goes out of warranty and if it fails, I'd dump it too. I also took the Husky route putting in the 5,000 lb lift model. I find it very comforting to use on my Classic Slide out with it's heavy hitch weight. Ball and screw technology which is used by many businesses owners that need reliability in their lifting systems. One of the best features is the Husky jack costs less that the OEM jack that Airstream uses.

After the Attwood jack left me stranded (Truck in the air, won't go down, I can't unhook, I can't drive away.) I switched to the Husky 5000. Now it's developed an issue where the up switch quits, at first I thought "overheat", but no. If I start down then flip to up it works. I figure a backup is the remote.
One thing for sure, don't open the Husky 5000, it's packed with circuit boards and wiring harnesses.

If it doesn't work at all, the ground wire at the battery is probably not connected.

He said it clicks and, on my trailer, there is no ground wire at the battery for the jack, the ground is through the frame. There is Positive connection at the batter, fused along the post of the jack.

OEM Jack Problems

I too had trouble with my Atwood (Dometic) pier jacking my 2017 27FB Tommy Bahama. Replaced under warranty during first year when gears were stripped like yours. Then replaced again the next. The manual jack handle wouldn’t work either— the jack was jammed. Jackson Center approve a better Replacement of another brand. No problems last two years. Hope your problem is resolved.

Powerjack problem

I feel your pain! I too have a non-functional power hitch jack on my International Serenity (2020), after just a few months of usage. Unlike with yours, I get no sound whatsoever from the jack. Luckily, the manual crank is working well for me (with lots of muscle effort). After ensuring that neither the battery nor the fuse were the problem, I'm now just waiting for my service appointment at the dealership to replace the motor (most likely problem per the Airstream customer support line). I'm just glad it's still under warranty.... Good luck to you!

My power hitch jack will not work if the batteries are placed in storage. Mine will only work if I push the button to “ In Use”.

Thanks everyone. Just to be clear there is power to the jack, the motor works, it try’s to raise but just clicks (to me sounds like stripped gears) if i turn it on and off sometimes it will continue to raise a bit then more clicking. For now, i am surcharging the 5000lbs jacks as recommended by others (thanks to all) and I will seriously plan to replace the jack. But first the AS dealer agreed to see me this week (Aug 13) to fix the unit since this is still under warranty. As I am handy, if I am not happy with the fix/replacement by the AS dealer I will just order me a new one and replace it myself.

see if the dealer will issue a credit for you, use for service. Then go buy the Husky, the 4500 is plenty, and has a nifty power cord holder in the back. Will have to mount sideways tho'.

Sideways?
Why...is the tongue shorter on the newer AS's?
