Solution to wrinkling molding rub strips?

Has anyone found a solution to the wrinkling of the clear covering on the belt moldings? I replaced the corner protector ones last year while painting the lower wraps and they are already wrinkled and admitting water between the clear and the silver layers.

I am due to replace all of them on the AS, but am looking for a more durable part. Would sealing the ends with something work? Seal with what?

I think replacement is the only cure.

Yeah, but replacement isn't a cure when it starts all over in a year. I wonder if an application of Captain Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure along the cut end might keep the water out and delay the wrinkling???????

Maybe, but mine have crinkled on occasion in the middle, or not near the ends. In fact when I was at Colonial having my counter extensions updated and the deer damage fixed, they replaced the entire length of molding around the entire trailer. Even gave me some to take with.

I don't think there's a coincidence that they had plenty in stock.

I gotta find something aftermarket without the clear wrapper...even if it is something other than a chrome appearance. The stuff is too expensive to replace every few years.
