Shower leak - 2005 Classic

I'm hoping someone has experienced a similar problem and has some suggestions. I have an 05 Classic 25'. Whenever the shower is used, there is a small amount of water observed on the floor where the hall and bedroom meet. The leak was noticed for the first time last weekend. I plan to spend what is forecast to be a beautiful weekend trying to diagnosis the source of this leak. I intend to begin by partially filling the shower pan and go from there. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Larry, It may very well be that there is a leak around the mixer (the unit hidden behind the shower wall, from which the hot and cold handles come). If there is a pan leak problem, it would almost assuredly be visible to the eye. If there is an access panel in a closet, etc. behind the shower mixer, then I would take the inspection cover off, and then watch it using a flashlight while someone ran the controls.

I have had the same problem. The problem was a break in the sealant between two shower halves. The water gets into a gutter and runs into the hall. This is easy to fix. Clean the caulk from the joint and put new in. Took me about an hour.

Try doing a search on the subject of shower leaks and you should find lots of comments on this subject.

Our 2004 Classic leaked like a seive when we first bought it and needed several fixes.

First, the inside of our shower door was not caulked completely where the door fixture met the shower walls, the whole way from the bottom of the door to the top. I had to get into the shower to get it completely caulked.

Second, the drip strip on our shower door was installed vertically. It is supposed to be mounted just slightly at a angle facing the door hinge so the water will flow off.

Third, there was supposed to be a small cap on the drip strip at the top end. This was missing from our drip strip, but a small bead of silicon there did the same thing as the cap.

Lastly, there was no moulding above the inside top of our shower door and the ceiling. I don't know how much if anything this open gap contributed to our shower leak, but Airstream's service guy put molding there at my request(although he said they normally left it unfinished during manufacture...??).

Lastly, in my opinion, our Airsteam shower is designed to leak no matter what you do, and we still get some water on the outside floor and down the wall below the shower door every time we use the shower, even with all of the above fixes.

I have a shower in one of the bathrooms in my home that is somewhat similar to the one in our Airstream, except the inside of the shower door has several different design features, and it doesn't leak at all like our (cheap) Airsteam shower does.

I havent been able to dulicate the shower leak. It may be an intermittent condition. But I'm sure it will reapear! Do you need to remove existing sealant between the shower halves before applying new? There was no evidence of any leak at the shower valve. I filled the shower pan, then drained it and no leak evident. Will be ordering sealant (Vulkem 635) to reseal the shower halves and anything else I see that could be suspect. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Had the same problem with an '06 Safari. Now have the same problem with an '07 Classic. The problem is with AIRSTREAM. They do not know how to install a shower!!!
I had to caulk the Safari all around the shower door...sides and bottom. Finally fixed it. Have started the same with the Classic. First round helped, but still have a little seep under the panel at the floor. Will get in the shower tomorrow and put another round of sealant around the door (especially under the strip of whatever they call it that is supposed to prevent water from getting behind the door but doesn't). We really need to get someone from Airstream that really CARES to look into this problem and teach the monkies who assemble these trailers hhow to do their jobs.
Now.....want to hear about my electrical problems?????

The only shower leak we had was when the shower head was turned off while taking a shower. Covered the bathroom floor in no time!! The cold water supply line was too short and the elbow was not sealed at the distribution valve. A toilet supply line made a good quick repair>>>BOB

I had to re-caulk inside the shower where the door frame met the fiberglass walls. Water would collect outside at the edge of the shower and the floor. Caulk fixed it fine - no more leaks.
