Roof Leak, from the AC unit???????

My 1975 Sovereign has a roof leak "somewhere" It shows up with a straight downpour, less with wind. I notice the old AC has caulking around the base, and after getting a good soaking a week ago while traveling,,,I wonder. I have examined the roof very close, no sign of the size hole big enough to let that much water in. How does that AC drain the water out that comes in the large fan hole???? I know the condensation tube works, ???Here in the dry desert it is difficult to simulate the problem. I am terrified to try and remove the AC cover, it has been on there 35 years..

Can you list specifics? Where exactly does the water show up? When does it leak? What's running when it leaks? If the unit leaks water from the inside cover when it isn't running, only when it rains, that's one thing to me. If the unit leaks water from the inside cover when the air conditioner is running but it isn't raining, it means something else to me.

Jim,
The water that goes into the unit when it rains should come out the drain tube. Maybe the tube has a blockage that prevents it from keeping up with large amounts of water. You can try and blow the line clean or use a snake to break any deposits in the line. The tube should exit the trailer in front of the street side wheels.

A dirt dobber got in my tube on the bottom last week and stopped it up. Of course, water flooded inside the trailer. I straighten a coat hanger and ran it up the tube.
Water gushed out and no more problems.

Blew the line out, seemed like it was clear..the water comes in around the windows, but I have had many campers and that does not say much, could be anywhere.
I know condensation runs out the line..guess I will have to get up on the roof with the hose and flood the thing and see what occurs. It leaks when the rain is straight down/

I had the same problem. Water was coming in where the freon and power lines go through the shell. It would leak and the water would run out over the curb side window. After 3 tries, I finally got enough vulkem around the area to stop the water. You are going to have to remove the cover to get to the area. Mine doesn't have a shroud so I can't help you with that but to remove the top cover there are only 4 screws, one on each outside corner.

My bet is ya don't have a air conditioner leak unless it's a flange screw. To start eliminating things, guess I'd go up on top and take a look with the cover off. If your unit is like the one that I just removed, it's sealed on top and it would be hard for it to leak unless something broke. I bet your unit sets on top of a 14" x 14" hole in the ceiling and there's no inside/outside split unit.

Does the water always run to the same side? Or can ya get it to change sides by blocking the wheels on one side? Might be just leaky windows.
