Vintage Metal Vent Lids

I just found these at a Teardrop Camper site. They look good enough to replace the vintage metal vent lids, don't you think? Scroll down about halfway down the page.

For some reason, when I see that ebay lid, I'm reminded of the saying "If your only tool is a hammer...."

Well, I don't suppose they would be "perfect" after 30+ years. Based upon some of the garbage I have seen on other peoples Airstreams, I would say they were in good shape, but thats just my opinion. Hail damage is common on vintage parts I guess.

Oh, that one's better than my ONE original. Well, it won't fit mine, buy you get the idea. It's just that I love some of the "creative" descriptions of "vintage" and "excellent condition" Airstreams I see on eBay. Poor coaches that obviously have rear end sage and need new axles come off as in "excellent" condition.

And BTW, has everyone noticed how "As is" is used to mean "if I didn't mention it and you didn't ask before you bid, or I didn't properly understand your question , or pretended not to, you're screwed"??? "As is" is supposed to mean that you see the flaws, you note them and buy it anyway, not as a cover to mean that that any unmentioned flaws are the buyers fault.

I understand that you have to know what to ask before you buy, but sellers seem to think that the phrase "as is" frees them from any responsibility to accurately disclose the coach's issues. My .02.

I was watching some Airstreams on ebay, some were going for top dollar and had bad axles! Don't some of these people know what they are getting into? You have to research before you buy and be patient. Some peolple are in to much of a hurry.I have always understood that "as is" means just that "as is". If your buying and you don't ask, well, its your fault. But I beleive sellers should be honest too.

I think you may be right on that Lil' Bear being a good replacement... if so, nice catch! I need one, I think. I guess I might end up with a fantastic fan instead, but who knows?
