Custom Screen Door Inserts

I remember seeing a thread this summer about someone who makes custom inserts for the screen door. I cannot find it using the search engine. Does anyone have info on that? Thanks!

I think they sold out quickly. If they are the ones I'm thinking of they were done by a custom trailer person in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Make a pattern and take it to any plastic shop. Mine cost $90.00. depending on the frame of your door will determine how you mount them.

Hi - I think this is what you refer to: vintage airstream and other classic travel trailers

David Winick Design is the source for this.

Thank you Field & Stream, that is the link I was looking for. I may have to take HowieE's advice however, as David Winick Designs are sold out.

Hi, and you are welcome! I have received so much help from this community that I feel obligated to try to help others.

The website does say "sold out" on the Home Sweet Home ones, but also says they will have more in April and that there is a waiting list. For more money, the website also says: We are now accepting custom lettering orders on door-guards.
Some restrictions apply to the amount of lettering. Custom door-guards will be individually priced owing to the amount of computer and set-up time to produce a one-off custom piece, but they average around $275 + $16 shipping.

I made my own. I bought plexiglass and cut them to fit. I installed small keys to allow me to remove them. Whether it's hot or cold outside, we can leave the outer door open and enjoy the view. If you want, you can remove the plexiglass and enjoy the screen door.

OK, I guess I should read more. What a goofy post I made. I misread the original and thought they were talking about panels to cover the screens. Please excuse my ignorance.

Can't seem to find these. Also, does not look like David's email works. Any other source for these custom door guards?

Hello Folks,

I am taking a survey after reading this thread (and others). I have a source that I am working with (my nephew) to make signs/inserts for the Airstream and other RV screen doors. He is working up some prototype ones right now and we may also offer custom made ones.

The purpose of this post is to see how much interest there is.

If you want to PM me or reply to this post, we will keep a list of interested parties and get back with you.

When you reply or contact me, please let us know the type of screen door art you are looking for. It will help us to develop the line of products.

PM sent! Would definitely like the insert to line up with the factory guard holes.

Similar designs to David's and maybe the 75th anniversary script AS one.

I'd like 75th anniversary logo designs to fit the screen door.

Screen door inserts quick and cheap. Lowes sells Lexan clear sheets, and allows 2 free cuts. Measure the width and height of the space on the outside of your screen door, and go to Lowes a have them cut to size. Find a circular object, such as a canned fruit or soup can that fits in curved top corners of your screen door. Using this round can, scribe the rounded corners on the top panel. A knife, or just about any sharpened hard metal works as a scribe. Repeatedly scribe around can until a deep grove is formed, and you should be able to easiely break off the coorners, them sand to a smooth curve.

Pick up two packages of plastic screen door clips(Ace Hardware or Lowes). they usually come with screws. Attach 2 on each side if the upper and lower screens.

They work great, and total cost was under $25

Yep, we're interested. I'll PM you what we have in mind later; so, for now just put us in the 'interested' column.

Glad to hear that there is interest. We are in the process of developing the prototypes now and should have the website up in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, if you have ideas of a specific design you would like to have, feel free to send me a PM. I will keep track of this thread as well.

Thanks to everyone for the interest!
