XM Satellite Radio Antenna
Our 2008 Airstream came with a Sony radio that is XM Satellite ready.
I would like to install a permanent XM antenna on the roof. Has anyone done this? If so, what antenna did you use and where did you purchase it.
Thanks for the help.

My Interstate came with an XM antenna already installed, so I can't help you on that. But as for what antenna to get, I'd say go straight to the source…
Antennas - Shop - SiriusXM Radio
They have reconditioned antennas that aren't too expensive.

You should be able to get one directly from Sirius/Xm. Have you tried that? Have the model number of your head unit in hand when you call. We've been subscribers for years and love it. One big negative....their customer support/tech support is ALL offshore now. Drives me nuts. Caveat Emptor

I ordered mine from West Marine made by Shakespeare. I believe you will also need a SirusXM vehicle tuner for compatible ready radios.

You might also check with these guys: C. Crane Wireless FM Transmitter FM2. CCrane is a great company.

XM Satellite Radio Antenna
I have a marine antenna on mine. Will check and be back with the data.

This is mounted near the front by the factory. Here is a photo, and you will see a small gray projection in front of the antenna which is a lexan branch protector....keeps things from tearing antenna off roof.

I retrofitted a Sirius in my Airstream. I had to get a new radio as there was no internal tuner available for the radio I had. Any automotive radio will fit and they are easy to install. Pick one that has a Sirius tuner option.
My radio sits in the streetside forward overhead cabinet. The antenna is a regular vehicle outdoor one from Sirius. I drilled a hole in the aluminum skin right above the radio and sealed it with silicone. I wanted to rig the wire through the window frame to avoid drilling but that wasn't feasible. Cost for parts was about $500.
We camp where there is no tv signal available and Sirius radio is nice to have.
