Victron BMV 702 install using solar prewire

I thought I recalled someone installing the battery monitor by using the factory installed RJ45 (Ethernet, 8 pin) cable by converting it to RJ12 (6 pin, phone plug) cable. If anyone has done this, can you help explain how to convert it? Can't seem to figure out the correct pinout. I bought adapters, but they aren't working.

I really don't want to snake the cable through the bed, closet, bath, kitchen wall, and kitchen cabinet..

If you are trying to use existing 8 wire RJ 45 cabling for the remote shunt monitor (which is RJ 11 4 wire I believe)... then you could simply cut off both ends of the cat 5 cable, pin - out new RJ11 male connectors and be done with it...

Personally... I just use bluetooth... my 702 display is hidden away under my couch....

[edit]

I'd need to look harder at the 702 cable if it is 6 or 4 pin.... maybe shoot victron an email... they've been good at answering my questions.... I suspect its a parallel pin out but I'd need to inspect my cable,.... but unfortunately my trailer is in storage....

It appears to be RJ12 6 wire when I look at it. at least the cable they supply is.

I couldn't find the RJ12 plugs. So threaded wire. The pin-outs are right in line across the plugs. Just be sure to use the same colors at each end.

I did exactly the same. I had the 702 display mounted under the dinette seat just in case I needed to access it. The bluetooth dongle is also mounted under the dinette seat which allows me to view all the real time data from my iPhone and iPad, even from my TV while driving!
