Yes we are newbies, please help
After unhooking from electrical power at campground, and the inverter is turned on, batteries are charged, there are no lights.
Just don’t understand if we are missing a step or what?
If it’s hooked to truck and truck is running we have lights.
What are we doing wrong?

The lights run off 12V, so the invertor isn't required. Try turning it off. Is the use/store switch in use mode?
You must be getting powered through the alternator on the truck. Check all breakers to make sure nothing is tripped. What voltage do you measure right at the batteries, assuming you have a voltmeter?
