Tad,
Lots of ideas and you should be ok with your 50 foot setup, but my first thought (is it at your own home?) was to just run from a breaker in the house to a box by the trailer. You can run cable in conduit, even just plastic, and you will minimize the number of connections. You can go way up in wire gauge for less cost. Just a thought for future or if you prefer it at 100 ft.. For not a lot more you could even run two circuits on a 3 wire setup..
Enjoy.
Rick

As you have seen from the previous posts, wire gauge recommendations are based on a 3% drop in voltage over a 100' run. What is not being considered is the distance from the panel. If you are plugging into an outlet, you need to add the distance from the outlet to the panel in your wire size consideration. Regardless, I would highly recommend you put a voltage meter on the service to guarantee you have sufficient voltage at your trailer.

I found an 8guage extension cord at Home Depot. It worked fine for two years full timing. Just don't run a/c and refrigerator and a toaster oven at the same time.
