Water Heaters For Stationary Airstreams

I need to replace one leaking water heater, and probably should replace the water heater in the second trailer as well (both 6 gallon Atwoods). My situation is somewhat unique in that both coaches aren't going anywhere as they are set up with electric, water, and septic (on 5 acres near Moab, UT...used maybe six spring/fall weeks a year). FWIW, my well water pressure is very good there.

I really like the idea of going tankless, and was looking into possibly electric-only units, but am now learning about the disadvantages of that choice (high voltage requirements, questionable water heating capabilities in colder weather). The trailers are currently hooked up to 30amp power, but I'm reading that I would need 50amp power, and then there might be issues with taking a shower while the AC is on.

I know the Precision Temp units get high marks, but was thinking of maybe going the Girard route (or maybe Atwood), obviously to save a little cash.

Any suggestions (or warnings) would be greatly appreciated.

Any opinions out there on the feasibility of electric water heaters in my situation? I'm reading that flow rate might be an issue with going electric.

The flow rate will be an issue, especially in non desert climates. If you can go with a gas tankless you will be fine, but with electric even with 50 amps your flow will be down to a drizzle. Google some flow rates and temperature rise charts for any brand of electric tankless and you will see what I mean. You will need to know your local groundwater temperature.

Here in the desert you need about 20KW to take a hot shower with a 1.5 GPM flow restrictor, that's over 80 amps at 240 volts.

After learning about probable sediment and mineral buildup from my well water adversely affecting the tankless units - and the work it takes to reduce that possibility - I've decided to stick with Atwood and go for their LP/Electric water heaters. Now the choice is which one, as apparently there are a few different models . . .
