Trouble with Inland RV late 2019,early 2020

Has anyone else had trouble getting orders from Inland RV?: I ordered and paid for new Dexter axles, shocks, lift kit on 11/15/19. I was quoted 6 weeks for delivery. After 8 weeks I tried to contact Inland to inquire about my order. Many phone calls and Emails later with no response. I finally caught Michelle on the phone 1/13/2020. She related that they were having employee issues and my order had not been sent to Dexter yet. Michelle stated that she would place a rush order and It would take approximately 3 weeks. This puts the order in mid to late February. Gone with the wind 72

Yeah I've noticed, I've been waiting for a quote for Axels for over a week now now.

I was wondering about Andy the owner, he used to post here on the forums. I have not heard from him in quite a while. Perhaps there were health issues. Someone posted they have sold off some inventory (like end cap panels, etc.) and the family sold Inland. Hopefully they will overcome and continue to be a good source for parts, etc. But it doesn't sound good.

Can you order directly from Dexter?

If not, find a good shop like Area 63 Productions and have them order for you.

Did you try Las Vegas Airstream to order and have Dexter Axles installed? Do they not work on older Airstreams? Just curious.

I had the 3" Dexter Lift Kit and Solar installed upon purchase and satisfied, as well.

My experience dealing with them has been 100% reliable upon purchase of a new 2019 off their lot and upgrades installed to my satisfaction.

Retired October of 2017. Have not been feeling well, perhaps because I miss very much, working with Airstream owners world wide. But, I did give them 51 years of my Airstream knowledge, To say the least, I MISS IT VERY VERY MUCH. Andy

FYI Picked this quote off of Facebook appears that he is no longer in this business.

These "Inland RV problems" search results should give you ample reading material:

I've been in the process of ordering axels for about three weeks now. The credit card been charged but I'm still waiting on shipping cost invoice and some sort of conformation that the order been placed with Dexter or estimated arrival date.

Everyone one I've talked to at Inland has been very helpful in answering any questions I had about the axels I was ordering.

I'm hopeful it will all work out. I'll keep you posted.

Andy sold his business to a person that worked for him, it's my understanding she is now running it with the help of her son.

As for Andy's posting here on the forums, the word is, he was "banned" from the forums (not sure of the reason or post that caused the banning).

Sadly, not everyone could handle Andy's straightforwardness, his 50+ years of Airstreams and would want to get into a peeing contest with him on subjects where his knowledge was based on real-world experience, not a piece of paper with numbers on it. Though, Andy did try to protect his business, and rightly so.

I personally always enjoyed talking with Andy on the phone, and very much miss his knowledge here on the forums.

Miss ya Andy,

Apparently this is starting to cause a mess for people wanting to replace axles.

I just chatted with a reputable dealer (not naming names) and the shop is now suddenly avoiding axles on "vintage" trailers. Scuttlebutt is that the dealer is litigating against Inland over a set of axles. I have not checked the records to verify whether this is true or not though.

Well, Unfortunately we can not order directly from Dexter. I called and spoke with cust service. We have to use there website to find a dealer.

https://www.dexteraxle.com/distribut.../us-and-canada

I entered The area code for InlandRV, 92879. They no longer list them as a supplier for axles.

So, If you have not already ordered through Inland. Go to Dexteraxle.com , Distributer/Locator , USandCanida, put in your area code to find a dealer near you.

By zip code Colin Hyde isn't listed either. Perhaps Inland and Colin and similar operations can order direct from Dexter but aren't listed as retail locations on Dexter's dealer search engine.

Expecting anything from the old sources is probably not realistic IMO, in light of the many recent comments in other threads.

Good luck,

I took the time to follow the link and read/scanned through the first two pages. There is very little there negative about Inland Rv. I see more positive reports on them in that search than negative by a long shot.

Dennis, did Dexter change their policy recently? I ordered my axles last fall directly from Dexter. Worked with Justin at the factory in SC. Axles were manufactured and shipped to my door in less than 4 weeks.

I am not sure about there past policy regarding direct purchase from Dexter. When I called and spoke with cust service on 2/25/2020 I was told I could not purchase from them directly (260) 636-5311 I was told they no longer sell direct, under cutting there dealers and We would have to use there website dealer locator.
With postal ZIP CODES not Area codes. sorry about that.

I’m in the process of switching out the axles on my 28ft 2004 international. I’ve been having similar issues with placing my order with Inland that has been described above. The main reason I wanted to go through Inland was piece of mind I was ordering the right axles and they supply the after market mounting brackets that are needed for the shocks.

Unfortunately, I’ve reached the point that I’m in process of searching for another vendor for the shocks. Does anybody who went with another dexter supplier have any input regarding how to determine what axles to order and how to deal with the shock mounting brackets?
