Hi just acquired a 1967 Land Yacht Ambassador 28 and new to this forum.
1st question:
most of the window locking mechanisms are frozen or rusted. I have WD40'd the hell out of them and still no movement. Most have stripped screws and I can t even remove them. Any tips?
Also, all but one window is made of plexiglass...is this original to the unit or did it have tempered glass? Only one window is tempered glass...the one to the right of the door.
Thanks!
Jennifer
In the three years of 65, 66, and 67, they had the curved Corning chemical tempered window glass. It was a hair thinner than 1/8”. The window operators function with a single worm gear that you can’t see for the cover. You have to get the screw out that holds the handle then remove the four sheet metal screws that hold the operator to the window sill. I think I would put a few drops of Kroil Oil on all the screws and let it sit overnight. Sometimes screws that are seized up, you can torque the screw toward the tightening, then unscrew. If needed, you may just have to drill out the housing screws and go back with a 6/32 and nut. Vintage Trailer Supply sells the curved window glass and the operators for those years. Hope this helps. Good luck, Bubba
