Another Furnace Issue

So a little bit ago, I had asked about an issue I had....it ended up being a stuck sail switch....fixed that....now all the sudden I went to test the furnace again to make sure the sail switch did not get stuck again (just out of curiosity) and operating the thermostat nothing happened...no blower, no heat kicked on...just like before..ok, so its stuck right? well, went out to the furnace - and no indicator light and buzz noise like before...the reset switch had tripped....I clicked it and the thing kicked on but oh my....it was vibrating, rattling, and rumbling like mad, and after doing that for a few seconds it tripped that reset switch again.

What the heck does this mean? I had it operating fine after the previous sail switch repair....now some other issue...

I go camping tomorrow for the weekend, temps in the 50’s at night so can use my heat pumps no problem....but will want to go ahead and fix this...

Im under warranty for this new unit and no a service place....but its a pain to bring it out there on a weekday with my work schedule and hopefully this is something silly and easy to fix like last time.

Thanks ahead of time.

oh my....I got an itch to pull the fan cover...and half of the blades were broken off!!!

im not yet sure what happened?!?!?!

It had been up and running fine after the sail switch issue...

I saw no obvious foreign objects in there that caused this but is there any doubt that is what it was??

So, similar issue when my trailer was new. Day before a trip I started the furnace. Sounded like 1,000 critters were in there. Broken fan blades, about 20 of them...and the broken blades launched into the burner so major plastic smell. Cause? Lousy cleaning by the factory. Found the tail of a rivet that had been sucked into the turning blades. Remedy. My dealer here (ODM) had a fan in stock. Good news: you can get the old fan out and the new one in without taking out the furnace. I'd bet plenty you had exactly the same problem!

Shoulda mentioned that I was told not to worry about the ingested blades....smell disappeared fairly quickly.

There were scraps of aluminum and other crap in the area around intake in trailer - my first suspicion was that some bits if that crap caused it

Wonder if JC or foley would just send me the new fan part and I could replace without hassle

Foley is 5 hours away and atwood certified folks only weekdays and I work weekdays making bringing it out there difficult

I'm sure you can swap out the parts. My dealer just needed the S/N for the furnace . Suggest you copy it down and call them.

How come Airstream is using Atwood furnaces now?

Sounds like a common problem. Fan started making a lot of noise and found a piece of aluminum from a cutout in the housing.

I think the main reason is that access for service and repair is from the exterior, which allows greater design freedom for the interior cabinetry.

The Suburban furnaces are a bit of a pain to get to. It does sound like the components of the Atwood's are cheaper.
