Aluminum dust

We finally got the 48 Liner home and started tearing into it. We have removed the interior panels with the exception of the end caps and found a lot of crusty aluminum pealing from the panels. Looks like water got in through the seams and was trapped by the unsulation. Is this something to worry about? Will it continue to do this? We won't be replacing some of the panels and I don't want it to continue.

It's most likely corrosion. If you keep it dry, it should not get any worse.
My 63 had a lot of powdery white corrosion inside the walls, which disappeared after cleaning up and drying everything out.

It is doubtfull that the white stuff will be anything to worry about from a health stand point. As far as structural, the sheet of Al. should be OK if there are no holes. If support rails are corroding, inspect carefully so you are comfortable as to the integrity of the rails. And also look at the rivits to make sure they have not loosened. The corrosion can be wiped away and it will not continue as long as the moisture issue has been stopped.

Good luck with the work!
