Oh shoot Aluminuminum: I had cheap replacement window drip caps in stock ready to attach to my old 66 Trade Wind. I was convinced they would help reduce rain water leaks from the tops of the Corning windows. I never got the job done.
I will take the liberty to mention that 66 through 68 trailers are the only ones I am aware of that don't have drip caps over the windows. Drip caps make sense to this distorted mind.
I understand the "beautiful sleek form" of the Corning glass windows. But I'm a function over form kind of guy. I even have a very ugly ProPride hitch on the front of our 86 Limited. But, boy it works beautifully.

Thanks for the reply guys. Aluminuminum, if I had all Corning glass that sealed well, I would agree with you about not adding the eyebrows but I will probably add them in the future to prevent leaks.
Turkey run , I guess you lucked out on your windows maybe it was only a problem with the 67's .

We are going camping tomorrow!
We have been working like madmen to get the Airstream done for this weekend. We still have a lot left to do but we at least have electricity and water so we will test it out on our first camping trip.
I have ugly temporary curtains until I order miniblinds. We still have to do the cabinet doors. The propane isn't finished.
The cabinets turned out nice. I even found a flamingo for the bathroom

It is definitely looking like an Airstream. Very nice indeed.
Vintage Airstreams are never done.
My temporary curtains were pillow cases clipped up with clothes pins. They were great! Or not.

We had the same "curtains" this weekend. I guess you had the same aha! moment I did. When I realized that the most of the Airstream windows are the same size as 2 pillow cases side by side lol.

I've use aluminum foil and tape before too. I found the old pillow cases a little more "homey" and not so sterile looking.
So how did the maiden voyage go? Trailer comfortable?

Great job !
Just read your whole tread . Amazing, I too have a 67 international. I notice some differences in the two ?
It’s like we are the same as I broke out a window on the street side , mowing the rock flew about 45’ . I was heart broken .
Just got a lot of ideas from your build . Keep up the great work . Blue

I loved camping in the Airstream! We have a few bugs to work out. We had a leaking shower head ( I got a shower while outside of the tub ). We also had a non working light in the bathroom and our storage space is a bit wonky (I have no idea where to put our stuff LOL).
I loved having a functioning indoor toilet. It was the first time that I didn't need to get dress to pee at night I love all the light bouncing off the walls. I loved my fireplace (hubby grudgingly admitted it was a good idea). My husband enjoyed showing off his handy work to all our camping buddies. He was so happy and hyper that we got a noise complaint from the grumpy neighbor

Almost done...I can see the finish line
We have completed our first maiden voyage. Can't wait to do it again! We still have doors to put on. Propane needs to get done. Storage space needs to be put in place (closet rods, shelving, pantry shelves).I need a hamper door and shower curtain rod.We also need to polish and clean the exterior.Radio and tv need to be added. A friend of ours also gave us a fabulous idea to hide a few interior scratches, now all I need is money and a CNC machine. We also need to add mini blinds and screens to the windows.
Here are a few more as is photos of our Airstream. It now looks and feels more like a home than a project.

Thanks for the first trip update. Sounds like you built a "wet" bath inadvertently. Yes, having all the comforts of home while traveling is the whole idea of the Airstream. Maybe it was an early version of "glamping".
Hey, maybe you tow your Overlander with a Grand Cherokee. I've given thought to it, but I'm a little apprehensive with a 27' trailer back there blowing in the wind. Your Overlander is lighter than my 1975, but it may have gotten heaver since you have renovated it, especially with a full brick fireplace. Any white knuckles while towing?

The photos look amazing! I especially like the contrast between the beautifully finished wood and the fresh fruit and vegetables.
Glad that you enjoyed camping in it as is. It will just get better as you complete the final items.

Thanks the fireplace we installed was this one: soho-electric-wall-mount-fireplace from Canadian tire
It is actually very light weight (I can carry it on my own). I liked that it can change colours and you can also switch out the "decor" I picked up the driftwood on our camping trip. It also looks great with beach glass inside.

Thanks Dan I can't wait to take photos of the Airstream fully polished and finished. Sorry about the whiplash looking at the photos sideways

We do plan on towing our Overlander with the Jeep. The Jeep does have a 5.7 Hemi engine. It is rated at 7200lbs towing capacity. We had weight distribution hitch set up correctly and my husband has a laid back driving style (never driving over 90 km even without a tow vehicle). We also had brake controller set up. We didn't set up anti sway for this trip but it will be set up for our next trip.
The Airstream towed great ,no white knuckles. The only problem we encountered was with the transmission going up a wicked hill in Fundy national park. We will be beefing up the transmission cooler.
I found this YouTube video of the drive up to give you an idea of the hill climb.

Congratulations on your shakedown trip. It sounds like it went well, overall. The measure I used was, I figured we were good when parts stopped falling off on trips. Three trips in a row without losing a vent cover, or compartment door, or nuts or bolts or rivets and you've been successful...
A thought about polishing, if I may. Don't wash your polishing clothes in your wife's washer... I just use them tell I'm done and throw them away.
Enjoy and keep the updates coming.
Thanks,
Roy and Marie

Did the trip on the TransCanada through NB to Halifax and back Labour Day weekend. Yes, you DO have hills in NB. Even needed to use the exhaust brake going downhill.

I see that you got to enjoy the Wenthworth valley lol. It is an amazing spot (especially in the fall) but it is very hilly. I hope you had a trip!
We crossed a few Airstreams while heading home, I wonder if you were one of them

I might have been. I drove to Lantz and camped at the East Hants Sportsplex. I was there for the dog shows, and my guy did well, getting Best of Breed at the specialty show.
