Coleman AC Questions

Hello! I have an elderly Coleman AC on my ‘65 Safari, which works, but freezes up at over 2/3 on the “cooling knob”. So, needs a refrigerant replacement, right? However, all of my factory labels on the unit are no longer legible. Does anyone know which refrigerant this one uses? I’ll add in schrader valves to make it serviceable, but need to know what goes in, and any other tips would be appreciated!

It most likely uses R22 which you have to a certified HVAC tech to buy now. If you can get an A/C guy out to you to service it, they can either put in something called NU22 or vacuum it out and put in R412. Unless they happen to have R22 on hand, which is costs more per pound than the other two. I agree though you might be better off replacing it with a new unit.
