We've been thinking about that as well....I think we're gonna hit Livingston and see about doing all of our maintenance stuff (reg, inspections, etc)....and trying to avoid the usual sort of Padre, Aransas, etc.

headed further south
according to the weather channel the temps on the gulf coast are about the same as Austin. We have plans to escape the north GA cold Jan and Feb weather by heading to Naples, Key West and West Palm Beach.

Alabama Weather
Former Alabama resident: No need to worry about freezing. While it can get cold, it won't be cold enough to freeze pipes. While I can only speak for Alabama, my guess is any of the Gulf states would be the same. Move a little more South into Florida naturally it'll be warmer.
Speaking of Florida, friends down there tell me bugs are a problem (the crawling kind). Any AS'ers down there have them coming into their trailer?

We know we are in a different climate than the panhandle of Florida but will take a chance this Jan by going to the rally at Topsail.
Draw a line along the north gulf coast and continue it to Jax and that is the general weather pattern.

Been living in the panhandle of FL for the past 20 years, and it has gotten below freezing each year. Normally it is not a hard freeze, but we did see 23 degrees at night during Canopener 2010. Winters are pretty mild, and if you don't like the weather......just wait three days....it will change.
The biggest bug problem while camping is usually ants. Most are just the annoying variety of p-ants, but you could encounter fire ants which is a whole different problem.
