Texas Gulf Coast Camping

Hi Folks,

We are planing a short vacation mid / late september and need some advice on a good campground.
We are going to Visit Houston and Galveston Area and plan to stay one week.

Now.. since my Overlander will not be ready, we consider just renting a local RV at a campsite or a cabin. We do have a couple of small dogs that always travel with us.

Which campground can you recommend to us in this area , that rents either RV or Cabins?

In February after attending a kite festival at South Padre Island, we stayed a week at Jamaica Beach RV a few miles south of Galveston. It is a nice place owned and run by a nice couple, and not to expensive. Full hookup. Two mornings a week they serve breakfast for $2.00. Nate's Restaurant, a good place to eat, is across the street and just a few hundred yards south. Don't miss it.

While there we drove to Houston to visit the Space Center and stopped on our way back at "T" Bone Tom's (Diners, Drive-in and Dives) in Kemah. Another good place to eat. Try their Armadillo Eggs. You will thank me.

Unfortunately Jamaica Beach RV does not have any cabins.. so im still looking

Lakeview RV resort is a place you might check into. It's in the Southwest part of Houston close to the Medical Center. We've stayed there several times when in Houston.
