The Where I’ve been map - ?
So as we travel in our Airstream we like lots of others keep track on one of those travel maps where you stick on a state once you’ve camped there. Here’s the question.. can I count states that we’ve “camped” in on our sailboat. By that I mean dropped anchor spent more than 1 night and went ashore and explored just like we would with the Airstream, or do only visits by RV count??
What say you??

SURE, WHY NOT?
However, you might consider getting a little boat decal (gold) and putting it on the ports you've docked at, and of course a tiny silver Airstream for the ones you've seen on land. Use both for the ones you've visited both ways.

One if by land, two if by sea.

Last time I checked, this was still America. Your map/your rules. So it can mean whatever you want (although "states I've flown over" might be stretching the spirit of things a bit!).

No way you’re missing the point. The map is attached to an Airstream, which means the map counts where this Airstream has been. It’s an Airstream thing, so why would you count other trips. Rules are rules

I’m with CMHM. I look at it as where you have taken your Airstream. We don’t do the map, we collect unique stickers from every city or destination we visit and stick it to the door. At the end of the day, it’s your decision to do as you feel best fit for your family. Safe travels!!!

And that’s been the debate.. do I count the experience and activity…or just where we have been together (the Airstream and us).

Our map is only where we’ve camped in the Airstream. It doesn’t make sense to me to put a sticker on the door of the airstream of a state it’s never been too. Your boat can always have its own map.

Here are the rules we created for our map on the MWanderlust. We only place stickers when we have done the following in a state: traveled to, unhitched, spent the night, and eaten a local meal outside of our rig. Ice cream counts as do donuts and pastries, but must be purchased from a local business in order to count. Wallydocking does not count.

Used to this discussion, regarding layovers… you might be on a trip that had a connection in Charlotte, but if you didn’t leave the airport, do you count it as visiting the state? Lots say no, but, technically, you were standing in NC…
Or, what about states you drive across enroute to a destination? We camped in PA, drove across NY to CT and camped, then crossed MA and NH to camp in ME. So we crossed parts of 3 states but never got out (ok, technically, never got out in NY or MA, but we did stop at a rest area in NH…). But, I have towed my camper through those states now….
I’ll go with this as an answer: are you tracking your trips, or your Airstream’s trips? Either is fine, it’s whatever you want to track: just define which you’re tracking.
Your map, your rules.

In the army, flying to Germany for a tour, we stopped in Ireland to refuel. We did not get off the plane but we were on the ground. I tell people I've been about 15' over Ireland, so it's not really a flyover.
Your map, your rules - Exactly - If people have questions they will ask, others will stand and admire.

I'm a Charleston native. In my opinion, November is the best time to visit. By the end of October, the heat and need for AC is mostly over. You'll have clear skies and perfect weather. Water skiing on Thanksgiving was an annual tradition.
March might be OK if you time it before the pollen hits. In March, you may have some rain and wind, and the occasional cold night.
In my travels, answering the "where are you from question" results in "I want to go to Savannah". A lot of people who aren't from the region don't know that Charleston is just north of Savannah and much larger. Each has its charms, but Charleston has more to do.

Yes, and you must spend at least one night in a state for it to earn that state’s sticker on your map.

I use the 3 night in the airstream rule , but as you say it’s my rule and my door. [emoji847][emoji847][emoji847]

Where do you all buy your cool stickers? I love the idea of plastering my inner door with them - seriously!

I look in gift shops when I visit different places. You don’t always find them but if you look in several different shops you will have better luck. A few years ago I ran out of room on the door and started on the inside shower walls. They tend to be much colorful on the white background.

Our AS map has only stated that it’s been in.
