Polished trailer in campground?

My plan to resurect the skin of our balding trailer to a more original finish did not work out the way I wanted, plan B was to polish. About 75% of the way done polishing now with another xxx hours to go.
Anyway it's hard to be around this thing without sunscreen and dark glasses so my concern is neighbors in the campground being annoyed from the shiny thing parked next to them.
Anybody have this issue or am I fretting over nothing?

As long as you don't move it, I can't see a problem; but once you take it out on the road, all bets are off, as the police could, and would cite you as a reflection hazard on the road.

Cheers
Tony

I think they'll be jealous.

BTW, I once stopped at a truck stop in my MH and a guy wanted to polish my wheels. Seems a big deal for semis to have shiny wheels. I've seen it done and the worker is covered in black grime that came off the aluminum. I applaud your hard work.

In all honesty you're going to have a whole lot of glaring problems.

Things like people stopping you in every campground before you get set up to ask "do they still make these".

People wanting to take their picture in it including yourself.

People pulling up next to you at freeway speeds flailing their arms about really just wanting to give you the thumbs up.

Birds seeing reflections of themselves and picking away at the aluminum could actually be a real problem.

Strangers in every parking lot everywhere wanting to talk about your Airstream.

You'll even be blamed for somebody else wanting an Airstream someday.

Shine on!!!

Sorry no issues. You must keep polishing! Now get back to work.

Well, I found that if you stay in a campground for a couple of weeks, the grass around your camper will start wilting. Be careful of plastic stuff around your rig on the sunny side, too. Friends of ours fried their outdoor plastic rug, and we fried one of our plastic chairs (just a little corner).

We were camped in our AS next to my inlaws in their SOB once. As soon as we arrived, the temperature in their site increased noticeably from the reflection coming off our trailer. And ours isn't a vintage model with a mirror finish. Unfortunately, it wasn't bad enough to make them move away from us. 😊

Keep going with your project. You'll get far more compliments than complaints.

Know someone who parked their polished Avion under a open building (no sides) in a farmers field in the off season. Came back in spring and found lower part of trailer trashed. Farmers bull was attacking its reflection. 😖

I'm surprised mine hasn't burst into flames over the last 10 years! The bull attack is hilarious... I'll definitely keep that in mind next time camping![emoji41]

Thanks for all the feedback and great stories, Other than post #2 I guess I would have to post this on the SOB RV site for negative feedback.
The Bull story reminds me when a prospective land buyer at Hollister Ranch here on the central coast left his Ferrari to walk some of the 100 acre property only to return to a horse eating his leather seats through the open top.

I polished mine sometime ago in Texas State Park without any problem and it needs polishing again. Would like to find someone in the San Antonio area that would like the job.

Al, a post was on this forum a couple of years ago by a member who towed his highly polished Airstream through Dallas. On a multilane road, a guy changed lanes & hit his trailer. He said the guy bounced backed to the original lane - then pulled into his trailer AGAIN !
Could it be that a mirror-like highly polished AS can disappear or become nearly invisible in traffic?
If thatz possible, maybe you can paint a speed stripe or other items on it to avoid the invisible trailer danger (if it is a danger ).
Let's Roll !
Wolf.
