Our trip to the Mother Ship in September '14

I am getting really excited about our trip in September to the mother ship/Terraport.
So far, I have planned the following list of things to do/see and places to go, eliminating 6-7 bucket list items-
1. Friday, September 12-Monday, September 15- Diana Singing, Pulaski, TN
2. Monday, September 15-Wednesday, September 17- Terraport, warranty work, factory tour, Jackson Center, OH
3. Wednesday, September 17-Thursday, September 18- Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum, Auburn, IN, National Studebaker Museum, South Bend, IN
4. Thursday, September 18-Friday, September, 19-RVMH Hall of Fame, Elkhart, IN
5. Friday, September 19-Sunday, September 21-Holiday World Theme Park, Santa Claus, IN
If anyone knows of any good campgrounds in Auburn, IN, South Bend, IN, or Elkhart, IN, please give me some input.
Can't wait. Chompin' at the bit. Rarin' to go.

It occurred to me that we might see the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, the National Studebaker Museum, and the RVMH Hall of Fame in one day. If that is the case we will either take in some more museums or come on home.

We will roll into the Terraport in the afternoon of the 15th and pull out in the morning on the 17th.
Our service appointment/factory tour is the 16th.

I will keep those in mind. Free camping Friday-Tuesday makes it an economical trip. Paying for a campsite wednesday-Saturday won't kill me, but I would love it if we could find some Corps of Engineers parks or some other reasonably priced campgrounds.

The Neal Armstrong museum is in nearby Wapakeneta and Bicycle museum is in New Breman, both of these are within 30 minutes of factory. A longer day trip would be to the Air Force museum near Dayton, about an hour away

I would suggest that you give the Auburn, Cord & Duesenberg museum at LEAST a half day by itself. But certainly don't miss it.

On my tentative schedule I have allowed a day.
I can 't stay too long.

We can probably check those out while our trailer is being serviced. I don't think the factory tour is until 2.

Bicycle Museum of America and Armstrong Air and Space museum will be added to the itinerary.
Any more suggestions?
I wonder if I could donate/loan a recumbent to the bicycle museum.

How far in advance does one need to make an appointment for service at Jackson Center? I'm considering taking mine in August/ Sept before my warranty expires. Is it necessary to plan this far in advance ?

I don't know, but I planned my service center visit to coincide with the end of my warranty and the Diana Singing in Pulaski, TN, which is on the way.
I just scheduled it as soon as I could.
I guess I enjoy anticipation.
I'm sure they are somewhat flexible.
The Diana Singing and warranty work are the primary reason for the trip.
All the other stuff is just things I have wanted to do for a long time and are nearby, so why not check about 8-10 items off my bucket list-
I am excited.

How is the weather? Bit chilly compared to Mississippi? I think you will be surprised at the degree of customer service at JC. They are outstanding in accommodating owners and visitors. Do not forget to take Don's Tour. His depth of Airstream knowledge seems unending.

It is cool in Tennessee- 60's and 70's-
It will be cool in Ohio- 45-50 at night.
My rig is clean- I rubbed on it in the cool Tennessee weather- it's been too hot at home-

We're here! Got here Monday afternoon. A mechanic named Paul worked on the trailer all day Tuesday and fixed many things on the list.
It is in the service bay again today. Paul seems to go above and beyond and bend over backwards to help. I am happy!
This trailer will only ever be serviced at Jackson Center!
The whole experience is awesome- camping in the Terraport, taking a factory tour, the Bicycle Museum of America in New Bremen, good reasonably priced food in the local restaurants, the Air Force museum in Dayton-

Today we toured the Air Force museum in Dayton.

Spend a day in Shipshewana. Nice campground there and wonderful Amish restaurant. There is also a great Amish theater at the Shipshewana restaurant - plays are very good.
