At the Mother Ship

I'm sitting here at the terra port waiting for Airstream to open. Having some warranty work done. Nothing major (knock on wood) just a few floor squeaks, black tank sensor (what a surprise) and converter noise.

I got here yesterday (Saturday) afternoon after spending a few work-related days in Rockville Indiana.

If you ever get the chance, Rockville is a neat area to visit. They have more covered-bridges (150) in their county than any other county in the U.S. They have a festival celebrating the bridges each October.

This place fills up fast! Each of the 3 circles is now full. It was only about a third full yesterday.

I got to see the new Batman movie today for $3.50 at the local theater. Me and about 12 other people.

The wi-fi here is free but password protected and my Verizon modem isn't getting a great signal. If anyone knows the user name/password, I'd appreciate a PM.

as i recall the log-in for the terraport/lobby wifi is...

user name---air(1-25) all lower case and no spaces, pick any number, an example would be air2

password---Sat78 (this is case sensitive and may have changed)

lemme know if it works!

cheers

Hey Denny -- Good choice for warranty work. Though I'm sure Gene would have taken care of you too. Hope it goes without a hitch!

I was wondering what happened to you! It depends on how long they think it will take to do the work. If it's a day or 2, I'll stay, otherwise I'll just make another trip. I love burning diesel at $4.69 a gallon.

Thanks Bob. It's approximately the same distance from my home to J C or Searcy. I spoke with Gene and he suggested coming here since the floor has a peculiar squeak.

I see my post to Hank&Lois didn't get made. Lost my signal again.

Today, I finally got to take a factory tour.
My trailer was in the service center by 730am and most of the work is done, only 3 more items to go. I hope to be on the road by noon tomorrow.
Our tour guide was Don Ambos. He said that Airstream is currently making about 28 trailers a week.
We saw quite a mix on the line. There was a Pan America toy hauler, a 30' Classic w/slide, a European model, a DWR in addition to several Flying Clouds and Internationals.
Mr Ambos said the most popular models today are the 25' and 27' rear-door trailers with the 19' model being the next most popular.
One of the funnier moments to me was seeing the wall that used to have the picture of the motorcycle that Jesse James built.
