From Ohio to Florida via the Scenic Route

Trying to create a roadmap from Akron, Ohio to eventually winding up in Dade City Florida. We want to take the secondary roads with no time frame to get there. Would like to visit Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach and any other suggestions any of you might have. The issue is that my trailer is 30 feet and my truck is a Ram2500 Crew Cab which is also very long. Need campsite recommendations where we can actually maneuver our trailer into spots with ease (AND WITH A DOG). Older campgrounds that we have encountered seem to never have great spots for a long rig and we get stuck in less than desirable spots. WOuld like suggestions for roughly every 300-400 miles we would potentially travel per day (not sure if that is too optimistic), Hoping some of you may have done this similar route before. Thanks in advance!

Cleveland! I'm from the 216 area code originally, way western suburb.

OK, not sure of best route but in SC anywhere in the SC Upstate (NW corner of state) darn nice area. A park that is easy to get into but is rally parking is Palmetto Cove in of all places, Cleveland SC http://http://www.palmettocove.com/ Great day trips into SC, GA and NC are possible.

Now if you head down SC 151 and the city of McBee (don't call it McBee its MacBee in SC) gotta stop at McLeod Farms http://http://www.macspride.com/ one of the largest peach farms in the area. Why stop? Cause everybody headed to Myrtle Beach stops there that's why. Produce, baked goods, preserves and a fascinating museum of one mans life collection of Americana.

Might want to stay at James Island or Blythe Island. Both nice county parks with long sites.

I found that Hilton Head was very disappointing
Expensive
Water front is mostly private

Just my thoughts though lol

Lake Wateree State Park, SC
Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, GA
Blythe Island County Park, Brunswick, GA
Fort Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL - tours of the fort, neat ferry ride optional - http://stjohnsriverferry.com/

Last three pretty close together, pick one (or more)

Sebastian Inlet State Park, FL

Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park near Live Oak, FL can accommodate you no problem. Wow that place is big! Just make sure that a music festival doesn't take up all of the spaces, or make your stay miserable if you're not a fan.

Avoid the 4 through Orlando, especially at rush hour. Terrible road, twisty, crazy drivers. That's south of where you'll be going, probably.

I like using the Truck Stops Pro app on my Android phone- it has all of the major players and can navigate you directly to them.

2x on avoid I4 in orlando at anytime lots of constuction poorly marked lanes and crazy drivers. Most Florida State parks are nice but you need a reservation. also salt springs campground in Ocala national forest is nice and has many walk in sites that will work for a 30' w/ 2500 TV.

Appalachian Mtn

The National parks in these Mtns are to small for your trailer. We traveled the full length with a 30' trailer.

Myrtle Beach are is very congested.

Avoid 270, 495, 95 in Virginia. Route 70, 68, 250 are better options. Natural Chimneys SP is nice - near Staunton. Lake Anna is a good choice. Lake Moomaw is a hidden gem. I drag a 30' around with my Ram short box and haven't had any problems getting into any of these places. There.are a few places on the Eastern Shore but that will dump you into Virginia Beach which has limited opportunities: Trav-L-Park, KOA are your primary choices. Although going the Eastern Shore will set you up nicely for NC's OBX. Unique area and the ferry to Ocracoke and then to Swan Quarter will accommodate your rig.
