It'll never get lost by some defunct blog service provider, used against me, or otherwise used maliciously.

I totally believe in the value of information that sites such as Airforums provides, and I'll certainly keep enough information on the 'net for old buddies to be able to find me (and it works!), but I try to keep most other 'personal' stuff off the 'net unless it serves a very specific purpose and I feel like it won't be used against me.

Like Lewis And Clark

We keep our travel adventures and pictures in a hand written diary type book. We have one for each trailer. They are sort of travel journals, where we were, what we saw, what the waether was, what camp site and site # etc...
I work in IT and most of the time the last thing I want to do is create a WEB site or a BLOG for myself.

You know I always thought I didn't have enough time for a diary either, but it has actually come in handy when you forget someone's name or exactly when something happened.

Maybe Michael is so young that he doesn't forget things - yet...

I imagine it might be fun a few years down the road to go back and see how my viewpoint has changed.

But you sure have a lot of time to spend on Airforums...

Also, as for Blogs/Websites being used against you...you can make any and all of your site PRIVATE.... and password protect your content....

You can even make sure search engines don't find it if you want....

Hi gypsychris;
congratulations for the unusual colors, pink flamingos ... but why are there advertisings on the blog ? Do you think you'll earn a lot of money with that ( may be some bloggers can tell me)?

I've made a blog since the time I own my Aistream, just to share my adventure to carry it from USA to France and the story continue with all my travels and meetings so i never wanted that Google put publicities on what I tell because , if I do that, it's only for pleasure and not for business...

One more time, it's only my opinion and my choice, and not to frustate you.

Bruno

Hey Bruno, Bonjour!
First you do not frustrate me at all. I think there is a big mis conception about Google ads, well, actually it depends how you use them. Let me try to clarify:
I think that they can actually benefit the user experience, rather than just "make money".
The ads displayed by Google are contextual: They should relate to the content of the blog/website.
As long as they are clearly defined...so your users/visitors (like you just pointed out) know these ARE ads... then I think ads are a great way to complement your content...and maybe make a few bucks here and there.
As a full time web designer, owner of a small online business (10 + years now) , and a full time traveler, yes, every dollar does count in the end...

We travel for pleasure, own an Airstream because it was our dream, and we chronicle our travels so that our families and friends (and sometimes total strangers) can join in our experiences.

--The same way you have your websites/blogs in your user signature...
It's about sharing.

My photography is a stress reliever that became profitable by word of mouth when people started wanting my photos on their walls. God created amazing landscapes, and I am just happy and blessed to help show off those places.

Sharing my photography with the public brings me a great deal of pleasure. The emotions that some of the photos draw out in people amaze me at times.

I am happy you enjoyed the photos!

Blogs are fun and informative, but sometimes feel like peeking through someone's window if you don't know the blogger well. I also always feel badly if I don't comment after reading, but often have no comment to offer.

One thing I get a kick out of are people's YouTube videos. Bruno's clips remind me SO much of roadtripping with my friends from Italy--a totally new way of looking at America for me! They kept saying how everything--big cities, long stretches of highway, diners and drive-thrus, small towns with classic main streets (all seen in a big American sedan for their benefit) was just like being in a movie! YouTube vids give you an idea of who the person is, what they find interesting, etc. without the uncomfortable soul-baring that some blogs can have. Does that make sense?

Mine is at

n2916s's Blog on Blogster

It is supposed to be funny. Some have found it so. Some have me #1 on their "block sender" list...

My family all went into the witless protection program.

My dog still likes me, though.

The next hot thing seems to be Twitter which is a site you join and people follow you around and you follow them around. You send a short message via cell phone or wifi or smoke signal such as I am watching TV, or I just ate at Taco Bell and it is posted and sent out to the people who have no life who are watching your life. The only Airstream application I can come up with is it may help those who get locked in their bathrooms if they have a cell phone with them and no one will answer their calls for help.

BTW some sites are public so for instance if you want to follow around John C Dvorak you can subscribe to his life. If you know who John C Dvorak is and want to Twitter his life you are in need of serious help, yes I need help.

Twitter: What are you doing?

Twitter Blog

If you need to get the smallest detail of your daily life out to family, friends, law enforcement or whoever this may be for you.
