Bouncy ride

I just had new axels, shocks, and E rated tires installed on my 1976 Tradewind. It is pulled with a 2002 Chevy 1500HD. Everything pulls fine and straight with no struggle or anything, but the camper seems to bounce a lot behind me. I thought the new axles, shocks, and tires would help out the camper's ride, but we still arrive with pillows bounced off the bed, a rivet here or there popped, and other stuff slid around. Any suggestions on the best tire pressure or anything to help smooth this ride out? I use a ProPride hitch, too. The camper tires say 80lbs. cold, my truck rears are also 80lbs and the fronts at 50lbs. Is this just a bouncy combo?

Thanks

Seems common with PP users. Might need to lighten up on the WD.

I used to experience exactly what you are describin. I do not use a propride but reducing the amount of weight distribution fixed my problem.

Not! The amount of WD tension applied, which is a common adjustment among all brands which can affect this. But really, I would explore if you really need 80 psi in the tires, based on weight. My pillow tossing, among other events, ended permanently with wheel/tire balancing and the addition of centramatics....along with proper pressure and hitch tuning.

I do not run my tires at 80psi. I run the recommended 50 psi for my trailer and tires. Also I do not sleep in my trailer while it is on the road. Seems like a foolhardy thing for anyone to be doing.

#But then again you may not be addressing me in spite of quoting me so never mind.

Thumbs up

SNIP..... "but the camper seems to bounce a lot behind me."

A lot or all the time?

Two primary causes.....

Intermittent>>>> with a rig properly set-up the "bounce" can be caused by an uneven road surface, usually concrete.
With just the right harmonics you get the bounce.

Constant>>>>Improper TV/AS set-up. Loading, WD adjustment, level rig, proper tire inflation for the load,(all) wheel balance.

Grab an adult beverage
