Angel Fire RV resort now 5th wheel only

According to their website Angel Fire RV resort NM is now apparently Class A,B,C Motorhome and 5th wheel only. Too bad since it is a nice RV resort and apparently we Airstreamers are no longer welcome.

Angel Fire can be a pretty class conscious place. And perceptions can be very strange things.

If that's class conscious I think they need to add airstreams as I can buy over four of my last fifth wheels for the price I paid for the airstream.

Well I just got a call back from them and we are good to go for our July reservation after all. Apparently they are phasing this (5th Wheel Only) requirement in over a couple of years and possibly rethinking it. So call them and you can likely reserve a site this year anyway. For online reservation they said just check the 5th wheel box but then call to describe your rig.

For better or for worse, they are trying to keep out pandemic nomad riff raff. You are pretty much assured that if you call and tell them you have an airstream (and the money to own one) you will still be welcome.

We used to own a condo in Angel Fire - sitting in the lobby when my in-laws visited and stayed there was an Airstream book, that was when I triggered my decision to sell the condo and buy an Airstream.

If you haven't been there, go. it's Colorado w/o the pretentiousness, crowds and prices. Stop by Comanche Creek Brewing, best place to have a really good beer in CONUS.

My favorite Angle Fire RV Resort has always been Monte Verde RV Camp Ground. It is a small comfortable and so reasonably priced resort our Denver A/S Club has always used it in the past. In fact, the last owners, A/S owners, invited our club into their home and with the club bringing sides, they BBQed chicken on their deck. Great time making everyone feel at home. Also ,A/Sers received a reduced rate at the time.

That has always been one of my favorite spots in New Mexico. I am saddened to hear this.

That (Monte Verde) was our alternate when we thought we would not be able to stay at Angel Fire RV Resort. Looks nice and that is where we will stay in 2022 if this 5th wheel only policy is firmly implemented.

This is an excellent RV site.....I would encourage all streamers to call or email and request a re-think on this, and at least allow Airstreams. Our money is as good as that of anyone else. And frankly, what is the benefit to the park by limiting to big rigs only?

Oh, I remember those times well!! It was party central around there, with food until you just couldn't any more.

Alas, I don't think that the new owners give the Airstream Club discount that we did (but it never hurts to ask them!). They're a younger couple, working hard to make a go of it. Not Airstreamers and (obviously) not Airstream club, but not everybody with an SOB is that bad!

Let me preface this as pure conjecture, but lets say that they have to deal occasionally with complaints of loud music, and/or rowdy behavior, and lets say that the longer stay residents at this resort have commented that the complaints seem to almost never be directed at 5th wheel or motorhome occupants, so........what is the easiest potential solution? Just a guess of course.

It's hard to know. Angel Fire is a small place and pretty inbred in terms of leadership. And precious few of them ... well, I should correct this. When we lived there, none of those in leadership positions had RVs and really didn't know the difference between RVs and mobile homes. It was quite a mindset to have to deal with.

That one of those types might come along with an idea that is somewhere on the far side of the moon when it comes to RVs and RVers, well, color me unsurprised.

Most of the obnoxious people I met at campgrounds are in fifth wheel toy haulers. Loud stereos and outside neon lights on all night.

AFRV resort

I spent 3 hrs verifying this article as we have July booked in our AS safari. After numerous phone calls /emails I finally was contacted by Aaron O’Dell GM by phone & voiced my concern ..... (575)377-4350. He assured me both verbally & with another confirmation email that our resv is “ set in stone “. He noted these changes to MH /5th wheeler status will occur over next 2-3 yrs & that all guests present /past would be grandfathered in & always welcome regardless of RV model. Hopefully this holds as he himself is a RV owner & understood my concerns for both myself as well as thousands other RV fanatics. Hope this helps !
