Where to stay in palm springs

Last year while visiting Palm Springs we stayed at both Catalina Spa & RV Resort and Emerald Desert. My opinion is Emerald Desert was the higher end of the two with grass, cement driveways, and convenient location to town (keep in mind, it was roughly twice the price). Catalina is mostly gravel and sand, located 15-20 minutes from town. We did like Catalina and would book a stay there again. We have kids, so the small playground at Catalina added some points, as well as the hot spring swimming pools. As nice as the resort pool area was at Emerald, I feel the lower pool at Catalina was superior. If Catalina were next door to Emerald, it would be a no brainer, I would save the dollars and stay at Catalina. The 20 minute drive drive to and from Catalina is the our biggest dilemma. After reading my thoughts, are there any recommendations for others locations we should consider?
