Best potluck I've ever seen at last year's Moraine View Rally.

Christmas Eve 2011 at Crystal Cove
I went digging, and these are all I could find! This is Jason grilling veggie skewers, and another one with him holding a tray of baked apples. We met some fine folks at the campground who are also Airstreamers, Scott & Becky, and we had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner with them. Anyway, the picture of Jason grilling has a bit of the trailer tongue in it, and the one with the baked apples has a tiny bit of awning in the top left of the picture, and a tiny bit of the trailer's bumper in the lower left. Not much Airstream in the pictures, but it is there!

Here is my first attempt to enter one of the photo contests - It's my husband Jim who is the cook!

Bacon and eggs in the Badlands
Not exactly fine cuisine, but we generally live on a freezer stocked with Trader Joe's fish and veggie offerings when travelling.

That was Cedar Pass campground in Badlands Nat'l Park. My avatar photo was taken in the same spot. The next night was at Sage Creek, at the other end of the Park - about 12 miles of washboard dirt road to get there, but worth it.

You both look so thin and the burger looks well so good, it is not fair.

Well, I've got plenty pictures of food and dozens of pictures of the airstream, but only one with them both in the same picture.

What a way to start a day camping
So it never made it to the high end of presentation, but home made biscuits with bacon egg and cheese is a great way to start the day. Even nicer that the kid likes to cook in the Airstream. If I could only get her to do that at home.

One more entry
When I shared with my wife about his months photos she reminded me of our best snack yet with the AS. For those who have heard the story I apologize. in October of 2011 we were approached by a friend of the family with a proposal we could not refuse. At 98 years of age, Selma had decided to give up her airstream. it had been setting parked for the previous 10 years in Myrtle Beach SC with a 3in. hole in the roof allowing water to slowly fill in and then to bake in the high humidity. The deal was we could have it for free as long as we repaired it and put it on the road to travel. Oh and we were not allowed to sell it. Of course we took the offer.
In the spring of 2012 with the repairs complete we surprised Selma by setting up in the parking lot of her retirement community and offering home made brownies fresh from the oven and a little ice-cream and coffee for all who stopped by. This allowed us to tell the story over and over of how generous this lady is.
Attached are photos of our wonderful dessert as well as a photo of Selma and our family and the last one is of Selma and one of the two maps she has marking the places that she and her husband traveled in their previous AS.
Cost of Brownies, Ice-cream and coffee= @ $10.00
The rewards of beginning a new adventure traveling the US = Priceless
I think my wife was right. Best one yet.
