Fan Vent Cover

I’m prepping to install a Vent cover on the roof top fan. Does anyone know where you can and cannot put pressure on the roof while installing? I don’t want to dent the precious aluminum. Thanks!

roof working on

Anywhere you see a pattern of rivets on the roof will be a roof strut or what might be called a cross member.. You can stand there. I am about 200 plus lbs , so I use a drop cloth under a 1/2 plywood plank, that's what I do. Now if your a younger agile young man you could do it without the accessories, just make you have good footwear anti skid rubber soles .

To mount and see Colonial has a good video

This is a basecamp? It might be different then the classic Airstream shell.

Fan Vent Cover

All better. I added the vent cover. All I did was stay low and flat. Stayed above rivet lines. And it worked out for me. It’s like if you wanna crawl on ice.

Vent Cover

What brand and model of vent cover did you get and are you still happy with it? Shopping for one myself to go on a BC20X.

Why do you need a vent cover?

What Partick implied but didn't say in the video is NEVER place ANY weight on the end caps. I use slabs of 1/2 plywood like LAWBC and I have (4) 100 watt solar panels up there so my walk paths are limited.

F15DOC I put a max air vent cover on our 20x. I didn’t have one last year and regretted not being able to keep the vent open while raining for some good airflow. It got pretty hot in the basecamp without the vent open. Easy to install. Took about 15 minutes.

Haven’t had an issue walking on the roof except it is slippery when damp….and yes I try to stay on the rivet lines.

To keep the rain on the outside of the RV where it belongs.
