Propane Covers

Took the propane covers off for a good scrubbing and found two spots where the bottom ribbing is eroding due to metal on metal vibration.
Additionally the toss away piece of foam that was between cover and power lift head failed at some point and left a smear of glue adhesive. Tried soaking and cleaning with Simple Green and unable to remove all the residue.
Hints on stopping the eroding metal and cleanup would be appreciated. Click image for larger version

There a number of products for removing adhesive, and other stains ...Goof Off is a product I've used which can be found in most paint supply stores...Some of the big box stores may carry it, or a similar product....

I was not aware of your previous post that said no Goof Off on Clear coat... I wasn't aware it was that strong...Perhaps mineral spirits would work....That is not so strong as to remove clear coat ...If it is, there's something wrong with the clear coat, which should be the same as your auto... Thanks for the info....

Aahhh no worries. I’m trying soaking with soap and water. May be a lost cause

It depends on the clearcoating.
On a modern Airstream, one with the precoated panels, goof off is fine. I have used goof off, lacquer thinner, acetone and paint thinner on that stuff without damaging it!

Propane Covers

Try Rapid Remover on the adhesive. I know this will NOT screw up the clear coat on a 2007 AS by actual use...

Follow with mild detergent to remove the slightly oily residue from the Rapid Remover. (Sometimes it never ends, huh?)
