White oak cabinets

I have acquired a 68' 30' International and it was restored about 9 years ago. Generally, it looks great but has had no attention to it since the restoration. Here's my question: the cabinets are all done in a white oak which was supposed to be the original wood. It was just sanded, stained and varnished during the restoration.

Since then there has been some water stains on the back wall under the vent fan. I found the issue and caulked it but now I need to restore the wood.

The wood stain has a stalagmite shape to starting at the bottom and going up about 3 feet. The real stain is at the bottom and the wood may have some slight cracking.

Any one had to do this repair?

Pix? There are ways to bleach wood, but its hard to say without seeing what it looks like first.

Popacliff, I live in York, about 12 miles away, and I'm a furniture maker too. Might be able to help some, we work wood everyday.

Shoot me a pm if you'd like.

John

John,

Great, I'm in Rock Hill and travel up to York occasionally to lunch with a good friend. I'll call you soon but not for a couple weeks due to business travel and home commitments.

Thanks again,

Cliff

White oak

I have to same issue with water damage to my hood vent area and the issue of just too many PO holes and adhesive clips to my wall cap by the fridge that drives me nuts so I have to replace it . I just went and purchased a new 4' x 8'. Though I did actually end up going with a piece of birch plywood which I will work with to match the existing interior. I find the new white oak panels do not have the nice wide tree rings, Probably since we have used all the old growth forests up ;-)
