Hi Brent,

I posted the information shown below, but did not send an email. Don't know if I'm the person you are referring to or not. Regardless, please add us to the list.

Please count us in for now. Our trailer is 29 ft. - will that be a problem?

Global Geological Warming... conference

Since the best of our best Climate Change people are heading to Europe to discuss the weather and how to control it, I offer my version in the Badlands of western Nebraska.

Those, who can handle the shock and disbelief of standing on the "bottom" of an Ocean that extended from the Caribbean to the Arctic Ocean 65,000,000 years ago... listen up. I and Brent will personally escort you to this place where this Ocean existed for tens of millions of years!

Not only that, I can point out where at least 20,000,000 years of geologic time are missing. Nada. Nix. Gone. It is all there under the vibrum sole of your climbing boot, even if you have not read this in your local newspaper... or have ever stepped onto your yard and wondered... how did this get here?

The Climate Change "experts" spend too much looking at the same screen you are to review their "facts and information". Oops. Much like using the Airforums to determine which stocks to invest.

It is difficult enough for we humans with a life span of 90 years to see any changes that may take tens of thousands or millions of years to actually see the results of small changes. Imagine those people who build their homes along a flood plain when 500 year floods, REPEAT every fifteen years. This Black Hills / Badlands adventure will be shocking to those who have not squatted down and took a close look at the surface of a golf course and think this has always been as it is today.

As a geologist with heretic ideas of climates and change... this could be fun discussing on lawn chairs after sunset. Even Noah's Arc can be discussed as well as Continental Drift. "FREE evidence" of Climate Change will be given to anyone participating. Take it home and show it to your disbelieving friends and neighbors. You WILL be the talk of the cul-de-sac.

We're looking forward to meeting everyone in/around the Black Hills and western Nebraska. We have a few other things we're adding to the trip such as visiting the Union Pacific "hump" in North Platte.

We're working on our calendar for April and May 2016. It looks like we'll be in Omaha in early May. We're still pretty flexible on the timing and could arrange to meet early or late in May depending on how the weather shapes up.

Scheduling this little gathering is getting complicated. In the most recent discussions I've had with Ray, we were starting to lean towards the June date, maybe a week after Memorial Day. There are a couple of issues on my schedule that are potentially conflicting, but I don't have a hard date on them yet. I was hoping to put off setting a final date on this for a while yet. I hope that doesn't cause problems for others though. If it is causing problems, let me know, and we'll get it all figured out.

Keep us posted. We may be able to make an early June trip work too. If we can't make it early June (or whenever the official trip comes together) maybe we'll borrow the itinerary from you and do some version of our own trip.

I know it's sometimes difficult to pin things down but is your schedule taking shape yet? We're still planning to be in Omaha in early May so early in the month would work best for us. We might be able to stay in the area until late May or early June.

Please provide an update when you have time.

Thanks, Lucius

I've been diligently trying to work this out, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I think that the Black Hills Adventure for 2016 will have to be cancelled. I contacted Ray and explained the situation to him. He suggested that this is early enough, that we hope it will not to disrupt anyone’s plans too badly. Sadly, I just can't rectify some scheduling conflicts. I am very sorry about this. If anyone is still interested, I can put together maps or directions to the sites we had hoped to use, and you could still venture out on your own.

Thalweg,

Thanks for putting your efforts into this. Sometimes, things are just not meant to be. Better to make a decision and pull the plug now than wait until later.

My wife and I will be in the area sometime in 2016 and early May or after Labor Day are the most likely times. If you're willing to put together some information and make it available via PM/email that would be helpful. We'd like to include some of the stops you and Ray had in mind.

If this trip or something similar comes together for 2017 we'll hope to join you then.
