Hello - I have come to consider you to be the resident expert on driving and camping in the Bighorn Mountains and hope you can recommend campgrounds in the mountains (not nearby towns).

Our style is old-fashioned camping and we consider our 2007 16’ International to be an aluminum tent. We don’t need any hookups, although the availability of drinking water in the campground is desirable. We have a very capable all-wheel drive Yukon for a tow vehicle so we can get to and into a lot of places. That said, we prefer somewhat developed campgrounds over true boondocking.

We are thinking of spending a week or so sometime next year. We live in northern Colorado.

Besides recommend campgrounds, we have a few specific questions:

- does weather make May too early
- are July and August very busy
- does September offer fall colors

Just checking in. Are the two of you planning any trips this year around Wyoming?

I’m so sorry to hear about Connie’s struggle again. I have back issues and I always have to stop and remind myself how lucky I am. I hope you will keep me in and should you guys go traveling in our areas. I would like to make one more outing before I winterize my AS. When should I be thinking about winterizing it? Last year I did it too soon and wasn’t able to go anywhere after October 15. Take care and I’ll make contact again.
