We did it!! Our new 2009 International 25FB

Hi all,

Well, on our way home from a 2.5 month vacation in Florida and SC we stopped at Colonial Airstream in NJ and traded in our Hybrid TT for a new 2009 Airstream Paprika decor 25F. It has the panoramic windows in the Front, Sound/TV upgrade, 600 watt inverter, microwave/convection oven (thanks to for that suggestion) etc. We had fallen in love with one when we stopped at a dealer in FL to look at a TAB and then saw a 27 ft FB in the paprika decor. Love at first sight for both myself and my husband. We love her. Everything is so bright, sleek and "cool". Everything we wanted.

She is longer than our hybrid was in closed position and weighs more, but gas milage was 10-15% better pulling her than the boxy hybrid.

We are now busy outfitting her with shelves, a 2nd reading light on the R side of the bed, a shelf unit that fits in the shower, etc etc. and are having a great time.

We were very happy with everyone at Colonial Airstream. They really seem to care about the trailers and the people who buy them. They knew we were coming to look at this particular trailer and when we arrived, she had been moved, pre-serviced, and connected to power for us. The salesperson found a couple of things on the intro walk-through that he didn't think were right and the next thing we knew, the trailer was in service being fixed - before they even knew that we would buy her. We spent one night in their lot, hooked up to power in our old trailer and then the next day, after we had bought the Airstream, we spent the evening transferring all our "stuff" (too much stuff!!!) into the Airstream and then spent the night in her, hooked to power. They said we could stay longer but we were eager to get home. So after the final walkthrough -off we went to NH.

This was a far cry from the dealer in FL who didn't even fix the bad leak that had delaminated the flooring when we didn't buy (we were in the area for over a week after and the trailer continued to sit in the rain, leaking).

We have joined the WBCCI and are eagerly awaiting our membership materials with the campgrounds and overnight sites. We plan on taking a trip out west next spring, so that might be helpful.

This forum helped us decide to become "airstreamers". Thanks to all.

I am so happy for you guys! WOW! Brand new....that is awesome. The new models are so pretty inside (they all were in their day) Keep it for 35 years and you'll have a vintage

Your 2 1/2 month vacation sounds like a good amount of time on the road. I like that.

I'm glad you had a great experience with the folks in NJ. that is a positive sign for sure.
Now all you have to do is POST PICTURES! I wanna see!

Hi Gail,

Welcome! Hey, which WBCCI unit did you join? My husband and I belong to White Mountains NH and New England, I hope we see you at one of our events.

WBCCI Unit

Hi,

We didn't know which Unit to join so we joined as a member at large. We figured that would enable us to go to anything we wanted to. Are we wrong? I assume we can change next year at renewal time to a unit. What is the advantage to joining a unit?

PS look at our picture: anyone have any idea why we are having trouble with hills?

Whoops, no picture! I uploaded one and it shows on my personal stats. What did I do wrong?

I also have a 25FB International. What/how are you installing for a reading light on the other side of the bed - this is something I'd like to do as well!

Welcome and Great Choice.

Jagzoo,
Nice choice in trailers, welcome. We have to agree with you on this site's help in ALL areas of Airstreamin'.
Extra shelves have come in handy for us as well, and have fun making your rig all YOURS...
We were in a T@b for about two years before we got our first AS.

Hi Zevrosenthal,

We have ordered a Boat flexible 12V LED chart reading light from boaterbits on ebay:BOAT FLEXIBLE LED CHART READING LIGHT 12 VOLT 00220:eBay Motors (item 330301688171 end time Jul-17-09 11:56:52 PDT)

My husband intends to tie it into the 12V circuit under the bed and then permanently install it on the small shelf on the R side of the bed. When we get it done, I'll post a picture.

Thumbs up

Congrats on the new Airstream.

Love your tow vehicle. May explain the hill problem thing - maybe not.

IMO joining a WBCCI Unit is the way to go. The members will help solve problems, answer questions and you get to vote.

I have to ask—are you really towing that with a Smart car?

Hi CrawfordGene,

Boy, don't we wish!! But it makes a good photo. We love them both.

Our TV is a 2002 Toyota Tundra with towing package. Doesn't get quite the MPG that the Smart does but it is better on hills!
