Try using a shallow "old work" 2x4 electrical box (usually blue colored plastic) from the big box home improvement stores.

They have flanges and screw-down holder thingies on two corners to keep them in place in a hole...and are designed to install relatively easily from the front.

Old work boxes don't screw to anything. They have arms that rotate out to go behind the wall, whatever it is. But on my trailer they were too deep.

As I said in my post above, this is what you need:
https://www.amazon.com/RV-Designer-S...8&s=automotive

or this:

https://www.rvupgradestore.com/AC-Se...-p/19-2433.htm

They have the electrified parts covered.

The ones i'm thinking of are like this example:

https://www.amazon.com/Carlon-BH118R...cal+box+1+gang

The two corner tabs tighten up with a screwdriver to hold it in and the flanges on top and bottom hold it more or less flush to the wall. They make them in various types and depths...

Those Carlon boxes are made in several versions, one is called shallow and is the smallest one. It was still wouldn't fit in between the walls. The depth of the box was actually OK but I couldn't maneuver it in between the skins due to the tabs.

Shore Power GFCI Tripping

Sometimes a little trimming of the opening is necessary, even in drywall.

When I have to slice into the aluminum bits, I make sure DW is NOT watching[emoji3]

I used these.

Riveted to the skin at the tabs. Cut the box hole carefully to just fit the box through. Shallow enough to fit in the walls. Only deep enough for regular outlets so gfci function where needed or desired was accomplished at the breaker.
