electrical issues > Tow Vehicle pin out not matching Trailer receptacle

We recently purchased a 75 Sovereign in really good shape.

When we went to tow for the first time, we hooked up our 2010 Nissan Armada to the Airstream with the provided wire harness (from rear bumper compartment), the tail lights didn't work. I replaced the bulbs with brand new ones and it still didn't work.

I'm thinking the pin outs from the Armada aren't matching the pin out on the Airstream.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction and tell me if i'm on the right track?
Some threads that I found indicated that the standard back then was different and that the receptacle needs to be removed (or replaced) and so that the wiring pinouts match the newer tow vehicle receptacle pinouts.

Thanks in advance,

Tadd in Austin, TX

Use a 12v tester and map the TVs 7-pin output. Then you can buy a new umbilical, or rewire the one you have.

Post a pic of your trailer connector.

Chances are good you will need to rewire the trailer plug to match your TV. The color codes and pin outs were different back then.
You will need 6 of the 7 pins (without backup lights) to make everything work.
Tail/marker lights
Left turn/brake
Right turn/brake
Common/ground
Charge line
Electric brakes
Go to etrailer.com
They have pics of the pin out.
Good Luck
