Hi all. My wife and I have been lurking for about six months around here. You guys pretty much rock.
We are about to buy our first airstream. It looks like a 2016 Flying Cloud for us. We got a local dealer down 22% of msrp and we think it's a great deal. We should sign Tuesday if things line up.
I'll read as much as I can but we will have questions.
The TV we are looking at is a Ram 2500 4 by 4 non diesel. Hope you guys agree that should be plenty.

I'm sure it's plenty, though you never mentioned your trailer. What size?
Nimbus, the RAM 2500 gas will have plenty of power however be mindful of your payload limit. A 30 foot airstream fully loaded will have around 1,100 pound tongue weight. Add 60 pounds for your WD hitch, gear, people and you'll be at 2,000 pounds in no time.
Thanks all. Friends are trying convince me to go desire but I can't seem to justify the extra cost seen that I've seen people who tow 30' FC with F150s even
A warm welcome to you from Colorado. Congratulations on your new Flying Cloud is the deal closes the way you expect. It will likely be the last camper you buy as it will last 50 years.
Your Ram will tow the thing safely. You might consider the one ton option. The cost is not very high for the extra springs and would allow more cargo capacity. Or you can consider air bags to do the same thing. Or just bring less stuff with you.
