Welcome Debbie & Dwight!
The airstreams are "not-so-cheap" units! on the other hand, we had elected to purchase one when we "retired". We had thougth we could better afford it then... Truth is, we had chased all kinds of problems with an old beat up unit we had bought second-hand (Not Airstream) and I was so frustrated after "de-winterizing" that trailer and finding yet again more issues with it, I came back into the house and shared the following thought with my wife...
"We can wait until we retire to buy our dream trailer... Own it for ten years - five of which we'll be heavily medicated ----- or ---- we can buy it this year, own it for twenty-five years - five of which we'll be heavily medicated. Which makes more sense to you?"
She laughed, agreed and got on-line looking for our new unit. Wound up purchasing a "new" unit in 2006. It was a brand new 2005 19 footer that was their last 05 unit they had in stock. Got a wonderful deal on it (to the extent that there is ever such a thing as a great deal on a unit that is so expensive)! Next thing we knew... it was on the back of my truck and we were on our way home with our new AS in tow!
Don't forget... none of us get out of this thing alive! At some point, enjoying the path is worth something. In our case... it was an easy decision. We just had to take the plunge! Haven't even thought about that decision since. it was worth it --- in spades!
Best wishes as you contempplate your purchase and decision!!!!
