New to Airstreams and the Forum

My husband, Johnny, and I are from Clemson,SC and work in the Pickens area and in NC. We have recently purchased a 1972 25 ft Airstream and are in the process of spiffing it up. We have friends, Camperski, who are really getting us fired up about the project and about getting started enjoying the Airstream camping experience. We are looking for Tambour doors at the moment. These would be for the bathroom wall area(covering the pipes) and the cabinet under the sink area. If anyone knows of where we might find these, it would be most appreciated. Right now, we have reservations at Springstream in Hiawassee and can't wait for April 20th. Here we go!! Connie McGahey

welcome to the forums

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you have a fun project ahead of you. When you get a chance toss some pics of your AS up for us to see (we love them pics). Dont forget that the forums, in additon to the social bennifits, are a great place to get helpful information on just about every aspect of airstreaming. Good luck and happy travels.

Welcome!

Connie-

Welcome to the Forums, and we all hope a year from now you're just as happy with the Camperski's and your trailer...

For now, all new members must learn and practice using the "Search" tab in blue bar above... Just click, type in secret words, and look at the threads and messages that appear, with your magic words highlighted in red. Knowing that not all Forum members are required to pass a spelling and typing test to join (Thank Goodness!! ) it helps to try variations of the words..

So, if you typed in tambor or tambour and door and sources you'd probably find a half dozen places that sell new tambout material, plus see that even Airstream seels some of the material themselves. You will also find threads from people who've made or restored their own with glue and backing fabric....

Good luck, and keep the spiffing going...

well its just that easy

I talked to John Owens about tambour doors...the '73's are shot...one reason he was so excited to buy the '75. Can't wait to see the AS with the new baby moons!!

I can't imagine how cool it must be to be able to go camping in around BC. I get to go up to a place called Hakai Beach every couple of years...and LOVE IT!!

Let me add our welcome to you!, any friend of Camperski is a friend of mine. Usually there is a swap meet at the Hiawassee rallies so make sure to post a "wanted add" in the thread for the rally. It's always amazing what you can turn up. Searching is important but keep an eye on the date, I have been fooled a couple of times by a price from a posting several years old. Look forward to meeting you in person,
