New members -JenandJes
Hello everyone!
JenandJes here! We are a young couple living in Newport News, Virginia; we are both originally from Dothan, Alabama, and only recently moved to VA.
We have spent a lot of time discussing the idea of selling everything and living full time on an Airstream. Well, the time has come for us to begin making it a reality. We are joining this site as a way to meet some people, gain some information as we try to navigate this new journey, and maybe share some information to others down the road.
Thanks in advance for your effort to help us, help ourselves!
JenandJes

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. You have found the right place for all things Airstream.

Hi jenandjes, nice to meet you. It sounds like you have the Airstream bug rather bad. These Air Forums are good therapy for starting your recovery!
There is a whole sub category on "full timing" in Airstreams. It's a romantic thought. When we travel in our trailer rather aimlessly, I feel like a gypsy. Have some fun, run up some debts, and move on late at night.
Full timing reality is a bit different. Airstreams make a very small apartment. Winters are no fun, and same with boiling hot summers. And many trailer parks just don't convey the "great outdoors" that the travel trailer advertisements suggest. Travel trailers are great for traveling. Pulling your own motel room with you for a comfortable place to hide out at night or in bad weather. Living in one full time would be hard for me. And it is more expensive than one might think.
So read up on some full timing threads. There are many folks on these Air Forums who do so and freely share their experiences. Ask questions on the Forums. Look before you leap.
But most of all, be happy!
David

Thank you!
Thank you all for your welcoming spirit, unbridled support, and dose of realism! We are certainly not wanting to rush into this dream, but rather take baby steps in the next year or so to make smart choices.
How do I get in touch with a specific member as suggested above? Would love to get in contact with her!

You can click on her name and send her a private message. If she has email you can select that option, depends on how she's set up. The system will notify her that a new private message has arrived.

Foiled Again is a super Airstreamer. She writes superbly. Much fun to read. And she will tell you all about living full time in an Airstream.
Search the Forums for Foiled Again, pick one of her threads, and then click on her name on the left side of the post. You should be able to send her a private message and take it from there.

Welcome from the mountains of WNC. Our daughter lived for several years in Newport News, then Virginia Beach and now Richmond. Virginia is a beautiful place to be.
