Joining Team Airstream

Greetings!

Thanks to a thunderstorm with baseball-sized hail that rolled through Minneapolis on August 4, 2019, we were just able to purchase a lovely Airstream that we never could have made a reality otherwise. While the dents make her no garage queen, she was beautifully maintained prior, and so still looks really nice overall.

First trip out over Memorial Day - the whole family loved it. Looking forward to many more weeks on the road, and many more family memories. Onward!

Welcome to the Airstream leisure life. If the hail dents ever bother you, there are paint less dent repair places that can evaluate the possibility of dent removal. But enjoy it now and think about it later. Happy travels and good luck.

So happy for you that you were able to get your AS. Sounds like you are going to enjoy it for many years to come. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

And welcome to the forum!

As I understand it, sometimes hail dents will work themselves out of airstreams over time if they aren’t too deep. Not completely, of course, but become less noticeable.

Welcome from Colorado, formally from Minnesota. Our 1986 Airstream Limited has been hailed on three times. The front and rear end caps look like golf balls. I've tried glue tabs and suction cups to no avail. I've tried freezing and heating also without success. Aluminum can stretch when dented and has no desire to be reformed to its original shape. So I live with it. Patina they call it.

Dents or no, we enjoy our Airstream and enjoy traveling with it, and working on the thing. Airstream trailers last a very long time.

David

Hey Bubba - our first trip was to Fredricksburg! Actually we camped at By the River in Kerrville, but spent two days up there. What a fun town!

That’s a neat campground. Never stayed there but visited Joyflea here on the forums that stayed there. There’s a couple of nice RV parks here in town. Let us know the next time you’re in town. Spent about 40 years around Houston. Been back once in about 10 years. A lot of people. Take care and enjoy your new adventures.
