Howdy

Hi All,

I’m a new owner of a 25 1975 Tradewind. I’m currently working my way through the systems, trying to get everything working for an inaugural trip in a few weeks. The goal is good old family camping with wife and 2 boys.

Can anyone please give me some guidance to best way to get my hands on owners/ service manual? I’m starving for documentation!!! I have seen a few posts on this subject, but does any 1975 owner out there know where to get the most useful documentation?

I’m in Los Gatos, CA. Looking forward to getting involved in the AS community.

Matt

Matt,
Welcome to the forums! Service manuals can be bought through Airstream and you see them from time to time on ebay. BTW, you have my favorite model and year trailer. If you want to camp with other Airstreamers, check out the NorCal group, they are a ton of fun to hang with.

And we'll be in a campground near you on the last weekend in April. Check the Rally Calendar. Ron

I don't know about getting a service manual from Airstream, if available I bet they will soak you. There regularly are service manuals for sale on ebay. Don't be confused with the much less useful owners manuals. Obviously the original service manuals are used. There are also reproductions the only limitation of which is the photos loose detail. They are on ebay too or you can order from this place called Secretarial Services for about $75. I can't find mine right now but I will bet someone will find it for you. The service manuals cover all Airstreams for a particular year not just the model

Check the link I put in the post. They sell reproductions as well, at a cost of $60.

Welcome!

Matt-

Another welcome from Silicon Valley! You should have a lot of fun with the trailer... The links above should get you a manual copy. The "Search" tab above should be explored until you get really good at complex searches to find almost anything you ever wanted to know about your Airstream by using combinations of key search terms. Finally, you have the option to post questions here or send PM's to other owners (if question not suitable for public viewing..) to learn from the rest of us...

Lots of interesting camping options in Santa Cruz mountains or around SF Bay Area. Roads are kind of narrow and slow, so take it easy and let motorcycles behind you relax a bit.. Real good advice for initial trips is to stay relatively close to home on shakedown trips, to minimize hassle factor if something goes very wrong... Even spending a night in the driveway can be an education, though heed advice and don't try to run air conditioner on an extension cord or household outlet...

John

>> Oh, and if you're hoping the manual will explain how to use the trailer in actual camping experience, and avoid Robin Williams "RV The Movie" moments, it really isn't good at that.. For practical advice you need to hang with fellow Airstreamers and observe and chat... Vintage folks (You are one..) are getting together in Morro Bay shortly...

Morro Bay thing this weekend...

The Morro Bay event is actually a generic vintage trailer event at the Morro Bay State Park this weekend... Vintage Airstreams are eligible, but it is organized by group of many brands of trailers.. You can find more by searching Google using "vintage" and "trailer" and "Morro"

Hookup sites are reservable through Reserve America, I believe...

Next "Official Forum Rally" for northern Calif is going to be the event at Casini Ranch on Russian River last weekend in April... That one is growing in size, and may top 30 Airstreams...
