Smile Hi All

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. My wife and I grew up camping in motorhomes with our parents, and now that we have a child of our own, we're ready to carry on the tradition.

Our plan is to buy a nice used Airstream or Argosy (just learned about them today!) in time to make it to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM this October. We're planning to caravan with my parents who have an American Tradition moho.

We bought our tow vehicle this March - a used 2004 GMC Yukon XL 2500 (with quadrasteer!) for a song. I think I can tow pretty much anything!

I've been surfing Craigs List and found a bunch of great Airstreams, but they sure do go quickly. We're looking at a 1973 24' Argosy tomorrow, so wish us luck!

Thanks, and looking forward to participating in the forums.

Welcome to the forums! This is a great place to learn all things Airstream! Good luck on your search for that "perfect" A/S for your family! Be sure and check out the classifieds here on the forum as well!

FYI, here is a thread worth reading on things you might want to think about when looking for an Airstream ~ good info whether looking for new, used, or vintage! http://www.airforums.com/forums/f353...eam-22920.html

Hope to see you on the road soon!

Dave, thanks for the tip. I had no idea that the axles require attention. Digging into the forum yielded this helpful post: how can I tell if axles are bad.

I'm going to price out some axles and see what sort of investment I'm looking at here.

Welcome from Walton County

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. We are up in the Panhadle and have an '05 25FB which we pull with an '05 Yuk XL 2500 4x4 Quadrasteer. We have pulled the Airstream over 30,000 miles with it. It is a truly great TV. We like it so much that we recently bought an '04 Suburban Quadrasteer with 23,000 miles on it as an alternate TV. We also have a son in Seminole heights with a 19' Bambi.

Best of luck in your search for your perfect Airstream.

Brian

I got a call from the seller this morning on my way to see it - it had been sold. What I found strange - the seller put me on the phone with the buyer who had another trailer he found on CL, and he thought I may be interested in it. Turns out that the buyer didn't particularly care about the model of TT he bought, he just needed something today. I lost this great trailer to a guy 'cause he got there first, not 'cause he really wanted an AS. Oh well, wasn't meant to be.
