Hello folks
Just signed up on the site and wanted to say hi. We bought a 31ft '72 right before winter really set in and hope to be using it soon. It is in fairly decent shape, certainly usable. So far the only problems I've found were a burst water line due to the previous owner not draining the lines . The black water tank wasn't drained, but the stuff is dry, so hopefully it dried out rather than the tank splitting; will find out soon after freezing temps are gone. The gas furnace burner isn't firing, I'm hoping it isn't anything too bad. Oddly enough the previous owner hooked up two thermostats; I had to remove one so the blower would shut off. There are some broken sliding doors (the roll-top desk type) and some other minor cosmetic problems. Our intent is to do a customized restore, but we aren't too concerned with keeping it all original.

Hi, Wayne,
Welcome to the forums, and welcome to the 70's 31-footer group. You will find ethusiasm here for these big girls, and it's not just the retireds who have failed upward.
Now off to a good start... Some of these trailers have two thermostats because they have a furnace (naturally) and a heat strip in the air conditioner. One might be heat only and the other heat + A/C + fan.
This time of year, in the micro-climate we enjoy on the edge of the swamp, it's quite pleasant to leave the windows open and just run the fan in the A/C. Today I heard that my parent's house, just 220 miles north, was ten degrees warmer than here.

Welcome - as a newbie myself, I've been very pleased with the forums. I spend alot of time trolling/searching thru old posts as I redo my AS. There is so much information available here that helps those of us new to airstreaming!

Thanks, Safeharbor, but actually there are two thermostats to the furnace, and one to the AC. The original furnace thrmostat is mid-ships at the master bed, and the second is between the galley and living room. This second one is the one I disconnected to stop the furnace blower from running constantly. I will have to check for the strip heater feature you mentioned, but I don't think I have it. We are really looking forward to using this trailer as we have been camping for years in tents. When this AS came along, the deal was too good to pass up . Thanks to everyone for the welcome aboard.

Hi, Wayne,
Check the thermostat for the A/C. If it has a selector for Heat - Fan - Cool, then it came with a heat strip in the A/C. That doesn't mean that it still has the same A/C, though.

Thanks for the info, Tim. I'll certainly put the rally on my list, if we can make it it'll be our first. We do love that area where you are, we've done some tent camping at RMNP, would like to try out the AS up there some day. Thanks for the offer of assistance, too.
