Hello Everyone,
We will be heading to New Jersey in a week or so to deliver our Keystone Raptor Toy Hauler trade in and pick up our 2014 31' Classic Limited. Looking forward to getting away from the big box trailer.
Both sets of our parents owned Airstreams during retirement. One set full timed for two years. My wife inherited her parents trailer, a 76 Excella 31' and used it on and off up until a few years ago. So she is up to speed in an Airstream.
We will be downsizing from a Ford F-450 to an F-250 crew cab short box diesel after we return from picking up the new trailer. The 250 should be a nice tow vehicle, hopefully not overkill.
We are looking forward to reading on the forum and enjoying the new trailer. I will post pictures of our trailer and tow vehicle after we pick them up.
Doug

Welcome to Airforums. Hope that you enjoy your new Classic 31'.
I grew up in SE Michigan, but have been in Virginia for 40 years. I still have family in Michigan and get back there at least once a year. We just returned from the UP, Munising, and really enjoyed the Pictured Rocks.
Happy Airstreaming, Dan

Hi, glad to meet you. It sounds like you know what you are getting into with an Airstream trailer. I call it "goofy fun". They are unique, an American icon, last a long, long time, and always a conversation piece where ever you travel. Airstream traveling is living well in a small, efficient space. It reminds me of our Japanese friends who are masters in small space utilization. Get ready for some head bonks as the Airstream, even a 31, is much, much smaller than your big fiver trade in.
I like my diesel Super Duty. It is quiet and comfortable for the long hauls. It has power to merge safely on to the highway. It has pretty good engine braking for long down hill runs. It is strong and heavy. I expect it to last forever. Sure, it's a costly over kill, but I like it!
The Classic 31 is a beautiful trailer. Enjoy...

We are looking forward to a lot of fun with the trailer. We would like to go for two or three months at a time and see as much as possible in the great USA. The Airstream will get us into places we couldn't take the Toy Hauler. We just ordered our F-250 this morning and hope to take the new trailer down to Kentucky before the weather turns in October. Thanks for your comments.
Regards,
Doug

We are planning a 4 week adventure to the Northeast this September. We want to take the northern route through Canada. We want to see upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Being retired, no schedule, and having an Airstream allows comfortable travel almost anywhere. Our Airstream was purchased new by my wife's folks back in 86. It is still going strong.
You will most certainly enjoy your your Airstream adventures. Here is a photo of our rig in Reno surrounded by SOBs (some other brands.) You will be in the minority at most RV or State Parks. Other Airstreamers will seek you out to say hi, and flash their headlights when they see you on the road. You might enjoy an Airstream rally or Airstream caravan. These are great fun also. Nice pic of the triple axle, what a rig. I bet that pull real nice. I'll watch out for the SOB's, my wife and I got a good chuckle from that. Great hearing about all of your adventures.
