missing vin plaque

I have to take my '66 Tradewind into the Calif. DMV for vin number verification. The little plaque near the door is missing. Is the vin located elseware on the trailer? Thanks, Neil

Vin Number

Neil, Check the A-frame on the trailer tongue. Seems I read somewhere that the Vin numbers for some Airstream model/year were also stamped into the angle that makes up the A-frame. Don't know if this applies to your trailer but still worth a look. Good hunting and welcome to the forums. Ed

Usually, it's etched on the tongue. Unfortunately, most tongues on vintage trailers have been painted so many times it can be difficult or near impossible to find. Good luck!

Thanks, I will look again harder. I checked the tongue and there was a plate under several paint jobs but it was something I think about the gas tanks. Yes much old paint there so I will get down close and shine a cross-light to see if that will reveal something. Have a safe holiday all. Please. Neil.
