One week owner of a 2006 Safari 25

Who out there owns an AS like this? Just curious on number of '06 25ers. There is much I would like to learn especially weaknesses as some have shared on their specific models and years.

Hey mutcth, I like it. Call it strange but when shopping for one I sat in different models for a long time. I already posted this but I liked different things about various layouts and actually ended up with one that combined things I liked about both the 23 and 25 models. The roll out table in the 23 was a neat feature to me but so was the gaucho. I have a similar flip up table but no gaucho. My list of likes put the 25 FB Twin sllightly in the lead. Then, I ended up with an unfamiliar floor plan that kind of is a have/have not of both preferred new floor plans. The only thing I have figured out that I wish I had was the pano window in the front only. I guess that's the way it is with things.

As far as everything else goes, I am going at it on this board gathering info as time permits. I ordered all LED lighting, have torn the carpet out and am cleaning like mad. It was filthy. I have lots of corrosion to deal with and have an appointment Sat on a dometic refrigerator recall repair. Eventually it will be ready to use! I have researched audio/video and bedding so as to prepare for that upgrade next. Brought home some beautiful high-end 40 oz. nearly same color carpet for the small twin area tonight with a health barrier pad. I looked into bamboo and cork just for that area but eh, I just want to replace what has to be done right now. The carpet was nasty and stained, so a remnant was quick and hopefully will be easier than installing perimeter trim and laying bamboo or cork for mere replacement. So much to tackle, so little time! There is so much I want to do and have a zillion questions on if possible, how much and etc.

We just this past month purchased an 06 SafariFB. we're moving up from a 20-footer of the same vintage. We won't really be using it until spring but we are WAY excited as this was the exact rig we wanted once we schooled ourselves in the 20.

Hey, congrat's! Though mine's an '05 it "left the lot" mid '06. I have the same round tail lights as yours and from your one photo the same window config.
I just tore out my aft carpet as well hoping the laminate went all the way back between the twins.----it only went another two feet darn it so I have ordered 10' of matching flooring.
I think there is a reason for this as if you have a water leak in the storage compartment doors the carpet will allow the floor to dry out rather than rot.
So here's what I've had to do so far:
Replace all the rear storage gaskets (metal inside the rubber rusts out). Replace the sky light (I chose to put in a boat hatch instead for access to the roof) and fantastic fan cover (was cloudy). I paid a pro to re-seal the exterior. Wash and Wax. Replaced all the little screws out side with SST (windows/trim/lights). pulled all the running light lenses and cleaned the electrics inside and wax). Did'ent like the look of the patio and step lights (corroded) so replaced with LED (from marine store..but AS is now selling them I see). Replaced the plexy in front window stone guard (warped/cracked).
I'm now in middle of dropping the belly pan as there is surface rust on axels/frame/bumper storage and I want to get to it while I can still make it look like new. I'll also replace the insulation, replace shower drain while I'm under the TT).

Yep, mine's the same layout. I will post some pics. I too tore my back carpet out and ended up installing more. My storage areas have carpet too but plastic is over top of it.

I've got an 06 25FB SE which is a different animal than yours. We bought it used and have now had it for about 4 years. I had two things that needed attention right off the get go. The tires were replaced because they, a couple of them anyway, showed bulges on the sidewalls. Bulges, not indentations.

I also replaced the converter with an IOTA and really like it. The other one had been toasted by the PO, the batteries were gone and it was trouble.

When you mentioned your Dometic, are you talking about the "recall" to address the chimney flue? I had an SOB with the same fridge and had to have the recall done. When I got the Airstream I had to have that looked at as well. It is an easy fix. Mine works like a charm.

There is a safety recall on certain Dometic refrigerators built several years ago. Mine (2002 Safari) was one of the recalled Dometics's. There is a simple modification that is done to the burner shielding (chimney) on the refrigerator. If you do a search on Google for Dometic refrigerator recall you will see if your refrigerator is included in the recall. There are pictures of the refrigerator before and after the modification. Almost any RV repair shop can perform the fix in about 2 hours.

Yes, they put a shield around the burner area. I have read about the converter issues. I am on hold with that one. I have a nice battery charger that I use in storage with 3 stage charging. The parallax works well on mine so far. I added an inverter over Christmas which has already come in handy. I understand there is some kind of upgrade now available for the 7300 parallax converters to make them staged chargers.

PS: Just looked at all the differences between yours and my trailer.
I like that you have the "directional" lights over the couch and the beds where we have the same lights as the "hall way". My upholstery is more stain prone than yours but a bit brighter....(Kathy likes yours better ;-) OK so do I as they're a bit more "formal looking".
Your darker counter tops I like so I think I'll change mine out when they're ready.
These 25' safari's "rock" I think but here's my next to next project. I'm going to figure a way to take the night table between the beds and make it so it can be used as a "bridge" forward of the night table base and add a little section forward of that......then squeeze the two mattresses together with a "twin mattress connector" and a "mattress protector" and voila.....instant Big Bed with pillows all around.....gonna be very comfy....but one must "exit" to the toilet feet first!!

I just had to post this somewhere. I just checked my mpg towing and got just over 14 mpg!!! I have never gotten that good. I took the old FL scenic hwy route country roads instead of interstate. It took me 45
Min longer but wow, that is 2 mpg more than I usually get. I check at the pump with a calculator and not the truck computer.
