Just thought I would post a related note. I own a 2005 396XL. Picked it up in excellent condition in 11/2014 with 62,005 miles on it and very well maintained. These are wonderful motorhomes. Slightly underpowered if you have the CAT330 and tow a car but otherwise wonderful. We have taken this rig all over the Western US and just completed a 3000 mile 11 day trip from Oregon to AZ sightseeing along the way. We now have over 104,000 miles on it and would not sell it. Even took it on the WBCCI Canadian Caravan a few years ago. While slightly different from the Skydeck models it is the base on which they were built. Once in good shape maintenance is the key. The guy we bought ours from was a professional truck driver. He said he had the same engine in his first truck and drove it 1.3 million miles. CAT initially warranted them for 300,000 miles in RV use so they are quite stout.
I enjoy following the thread but would encourage you to use them when they are ready as they are superb at their intended functions!

How was the drive home? This is the biggest vehicle I ever got behind the wheel of, quite the experience. Which one was the FL one? I remember a blue and grey and an all grey were for sale recently, one of those? Pics?
What'd ya pay? Those of us with an investment are looking for comps

Drive home was easy the first 7 hours and then my fuel pump started to give me a problem then injectors started to foul up and then my belt broke in which I had to get towed and flown back home for work on Monday and after 10grand of repairs I am finally home with the rv and in my garage/barn where I can do some fixes and updates. I drive commercial trucks here and there but this doesn’t compare bc you are over the front wheels and the engine is in the back so different all around! I bought it for 59g. From what I have now seen I think I got a good deal even with the 10k$ engine problem Blah. It’s blue and grey...

Wow! So both the blue paintjob with the racecar flag accent were for sale at the same time? Crazy. Congrats on the price, the other one is listed above for $98K
I lost a hose on the drive home from St. Louis, I got towed (thanks AAA) and had to take the train home, but the repair was like $400, of course I lost the other hose on my first trip. Had to pull into the dealership in Reno and they got me on my way the same day.

Yeah I just saw that own and tons of water issues it looks like... I don’t think I would have bought that one seeing all those obvious issues unless one could prove it was all fixed somehow. :/

Airstream Skydeck XL 390
Anyone interested in purchasing a Airstream Skydeck? Owned by the Coors Company majority of its life and mechanically well maintenance. I have gutted the interior completely.. bold move, but a good project for someone to do something unique.
